The Shanghai Dragons recently announced that it would be relocating its players and coaching staff from China due to the coronavirus outbreak.

The esports world has been hit by the coronavirus epidemic that has affected China recently with Week 2 of the League of Legends Pro League having been suspended. The Guangzhou Charge Overwatch League team also recently revealed that it would be moving its training base to South Korea due to the virus. Now, another significant esports entity in the region is being affected by the coronavirus and its effects.

The Shanghai Dragons Overwatch League team took to its Twitter account on January 29th to announce that it had decided to move the team's training base from China to Korea due to the coronavirus outbreak. You can view the official announcement below:

This move by Shanghai is a significant development, as the 2020 season for the Overwatch League was going to be the first where every team in the league would be hosting homestand events where they would host a group of organizations and compete in front of their home cities. However, the coronavirus has possibly caused a significant issue with the Shanghai Dragons and the other Chinese franchises in the league when it comes to being able to host their scheduled homestand events this year.

All that the teams and fans can do now is wait and see what official decision the Overwatch League makes when it comes to the homestand events in China for Season 3.
