The coronavirus outbreak in China has caused the Overwatch League to decide to cancel the February and March homestand events in the region.

The 2020 season of the Overwatch League will see all of the franchises host Homestand events where teams will travel to the various cities and regions that are represented in the league to compete in front of fans. However, the coronavirus outbreak in China has caused the Overwatch League to announce that the February and March Homestand events have been canceled.

News of the cancelation of the Overwatch League Chinese Homestand events was revealed on the global esports league's Twitter account on January 29th. You can find the official announcement below:

The Overwatch League stated that the motivation behind the decision was "to protect the health and safety of our players, fans, and staff." However, the Overwatch League stated that it would provide future updates regarding when and where future Homestand events will take place in China later this year.

This development comes after the Shanghai Dragons and Guangzhou Charge both announced that they had moved their players and staff to South Korea to protect them from the coronavirus outbreak in the country.
