The #PlayApartTogether tournament will see professional athletes, celebrities, and players at home come together to raise money and awareness for COVID-19 relief efforts.

The entire world has been staying home and practicing social distancing to help combat the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, staying at home does not mean we have to be alone. Facebook Gaming and Greenlit Content recognize this and have teamed up to provide an opportunity for fans, professional athletes, and other celebrities to come together to help bring us together during the fight against COVID-19.

The #PlayApartTogether Tournament is part of the World Health Organization's #PlayApartTogether movement. All efforts from the event will go towards raising money and awareness for COVID-19 relief efforts.

Friday, April 17th, is when the kick-off event for the #PlayApartTogether Tournament series will begin. 8 PM EST will be the starting time for the event with the scheduled concluding time being 11 PM EST. Viewers will be able to watch all of the fun on Facebook Gaming.

“Right now, we’re all wondering what we can do to help, and it’s easy to feel disconnected thanks to the very necessary imposed isolation,” said John Benyamine of Greenlit Content. “Gaming has become a natural respite for many of us, so offering the chance to hook up with fellow gamers online, watch some great talent take part in live matches, and raise money to help ease the burden on our heroic frontline healthcare workers felt like the perfect way to address lots of pressing issues at once, in a fun and social way.”

Each week will see a $25,000 prize be awarded to a chosen charity that is selected by the tournament's winning athlete to help support the charity's fight against COVID-19.

Following #PlayApartTogether tournaments will be taking place on Thursday night going forward and will feature professional athletes from the NFL, NBA, MLB, PGA, and Tennis. These competing athletes will play in a variety of games, including Fortnite, Valorant, Forza Horizon 4, FIFA, and others.

April 17th's tournament will feature Andre Drummon and JaVale McGee of the NBA, Justin Herbert, Christian McCaffery, Joe Burrow, and Jarvis Landry of the NFL, Ron Killings or "The Truth" of the WWE, Alex Berman and Lance McCullers of the MLB, PGA player Bryson DeChambeau, and influencers Jen Selter, Avori Henderson, and Fatal1ty.

The #PlayApartTogether Tournament is part of the broader gaming industry’s ongoing support for the World Health Organization’s #PlayApartTogether initiative, which is aimed at helping people stay home, stay connected, and stay informed through gaming.
