We're quickly approaching the end of November, which means a Thanksgiving holiday break in the US. But the pace of new gaming achievements hasn't slowed down, which gives us plenty of material to review so we can choose some highlights to share as part of the Twin Galaxies Scoreboard Spotlight. This week we take a look at a chicken who loves roads, heroic knights, evil among the stars, new ways to play Donkey Kong, and nuclear armageddon, all of which were peer-reviewed by community members through Twin Galaxies Submission and Adjudication Process (TGSAP). Let's begin!

Joshua Beesley - Crossy Road (PC) - Highest Score

Joshua Beesley already made history by being the first gamer with a new TG world record that broke 8k on the chicken-friendly game Crossy Road for PC. Well, Joshua was back, this time with an even bigger feat – he reached ANOTHER milestone by submitting the first-ever score that broke through 9k! And with a final point haul of 9,678 points after an hour of chicken-hopping, he ended up breaking his own record to set a new standard of excellence with only 321 points remaining until the score is maxed out.

James Morris - Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts (SNES) - PAL - Points

James Morris leapt into action on a perilous adventure through the revived Ghost Realm to battle Emperor Sardius and save Princess Guinevere playing Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts for the Super Nintendo PAL region. While James has the goal of reaching 800k, he was rightly satisfied with a final score of 672,900 points during his “5 life limit” run where he handily beat the previous record of 246,300 points set in 2015. 

Henrik Wiman - Action 52 / Star Evil (Sega Genesis) - EMU - Points

Remember those “game pack” cartridges for retro consoles that were packed with poorly-programmed mini-games? Henrik Wiman took up a high score challenge on the "Action 52" pack for the Sega Genesis playing the mini-game Star Evil. The game play was pretty straight forward – navigate through a space obstacle course without getting destroyed while destroying enemy ships for points. Henrik completed 7 levels and finished his mission with 2,805 points, edging out the previous high score by 250 points.

Geoffrey Suttor - Donkey Kong (MiSTer FPGA) - Points

Geoffrey Suttor became a TG trailblazer by submitting an inaugural high score playing the arcade classic Donkey Kong on MiSTer. An open-source project designed to recreate the functionality of classic Pcs, arcade games, and consoles using FPGA (field-programmable gate array) technology, MiSTer offered Geoffrey a new platform for some high score competition. With the goal of running the boards, Geoffrey reached level 20-2 for a final score of 847,700 points.

Dave Moore - Missile Command (Arcade) - Tournament - Points

Dave Moore had his hands full for nearly an hour defending cities from incoming nuclear attack on the original war games arcade hit Missile Command. Through successive waves played on Tournament Settings, Dave was on fire spinning his cross-hairs across the screen taking out missiles, smart bombs, satellites and bomber planes in rapid-fire fashion. When his last city was destroyed, he walked away with 999,255 points to take fifth place on the TG leaderboard.

This covers our latest Scoreboard Spotlight. As a reminder, these were just a few of exceptional records that were adjudicated and accepted recently. Every record that made it through verification and landed on our leaderboards has a well-deserved place in the Twin Galaxies gaming pantheon.
