Where did the summer go? We're one week out from Hallowe'en, but before we say "Trick or Treat" we have another week of gaming achievements from the Twin Galaxies community! As before, we reviewed the wealth of Undisputed and Verified scores that were recently peer-reviewed and earned their place on the leaderboard. On this edition of the Scoreboard Spotlight, we will take in a sampling of BMX stunts, mini golf goodness, high octaine street racing, and interstellar combat.
Daniel Ocampo - Trials Rising (PlayStation 4) - Fastest Time
Daniel Ocampo kicked off competition on the TG leaderboard with an explosive finish on Trials Rising for the PS4. Primed for a great race on his trusty BMX, Daniel dominated the Happy Camper – Helium course by beating his ghost rider and smashing head-on into a pyramid of highly combustible barrels at the finish line for a big bang with 39.097 seconds.
Michael Kirschner - Ultra Golf (Game Boy) - Total Strokes
Twin Galaxies would like to welcome Michael Kirschner, who recently etched his name onto the TG leaderboards with a new record on the Nintendo Game Boy classic Ultra Golf. Playing on an original Game Boy Advance SP, Michael completed 18 holes and beat a 18 year-old record with a final tally of 68 strokes. Congratulations!
MyOwnWorstEnemy - The Crew (PlayStation 4) - Score
When it comes to clinching a new TG record, MyOwnWorstEnemy showed the world that roads are for chumps with his submission on The Crew for the PS4. Competing on the XFINITY Speed Challenge, MyOwnWorstEnemy took his sleek Ruf CTR3 and launched it over the track to save precious time and earn more points by race's end. Although it looked like a few drivers might have lost their side-view mirrors as the CTR3 roared past, MyOwnWorstEnemy cleaned up the leaderboard with 20,168 points.
Marco1019 - Zaxxon (5 Minute Challenge 2023 Championship) - Points
Marco1019 had previously declared that he “was through with this one,” but the need for a stress reliever after a rough work day brought Zaxxon for the Atari 2600 back into focus as part of the 2600 5 Minute Challenge Championship. And we're glad to see that Marco “broke” his word as it was a primary ingredient to breaking the previous record with a new final score of 45,100 points to become the new 5 minute tournament leader.
Scott Hawkins - Geometry Wars: Galaxies (Nintendo Wii) - Points
Scott Hawkins had a big reaction to a big record on Geometry Wars: Galaxies for the Nintendo Wii: “HOLY ARTHRITIC HANDCRAMPS BATPENTE!!” In what may rank as his greatest achievement in almost 4 decades of gaming, Scott sat down for a run on the Batpente level with an eye towards surpassing his personal best of 289 million, but almost 5 hours later, he hit an absolutely incredible record-breaking marker of 1 billion. At that point, Scott decided to deal with his handcramps by depleting all of his bombs to end his run with a history-making final score of 1,023,611,050 points. Congratulations!
This covers our Scoreboard Spotlight for this week. As a reminder, these were just a few of exceptional records that were adjudicated and accepted recently. Every record that made it through verification and landed on our leaderboards has a well-deserved place in the Twin Galaxies gaming pantheon.
Keep scoring high, finishing fast, and game on!
