If you're going to drive for 31 days straight, you'd better have a good joystick.

Is it nearly September already? Maybe you're gearing up for one final road trip to close out the month. But whether you're traveling or staying put, you can catch up on some TG highlights from the past week featuring far-out world records with the Scoreboard Spotlight! We'll start with some Olympian feats, followed by a quick visit to the US capital before heading to outer space and then back to Earth for the ultimate video game road trip, so let's go!

Roger De Vore – Capcom Gold Medal Challenge '92 (NES) – 100 Meter Dash – Fastest Time

When competing at the top of your game, sometimes victory comes by the closest of margins as Roger De Vore can attest with his record achievement on Capcom Gold Medal Challenge '92 for the NES. Launching from the blocks with thumb-tapping fury, Roger blazed down the track in the 100 Meter Dash and snapped the tape in 7.93 seconds, besting the previous record by a precious .01 seconds for the gold.

Stef Knucklez – Cruis'n USA (Arcade) – Washington DC – Fastest Race

Stef Knucklez made short work of her visit to the US capital and vowed to return for an even faster tour after clinching a new TG world record on the 1994 arcade hit Cruis'n USA. Racing on a new superhighway that cuts straight through the National Mall, Stef nearly crashed the White House at the finish line with a fastest race time of 1:30.18, toppling the previous record of 1:30.32 set in 1997.

J.M. - Super Aleste (SNES-PAL) – Points

With Earth under attack by a giant sphere in the year 2048, J.M. scrambled his space fighter and flew into action on Super Aleste for the SNES (PAL region). With quick reflexes and superior firepower, J.M. vanquished the enemy and brought home a new TG record of 6,601,980 points.

Redelf – Minestorm (Vectrex) – 1 Life only – Points

redelf played a patient game of cat and mouse with only one ship to spare on the classic title Minestorm for the Vectrex Arcade System. Competing in the “1 life” category, redelf was sharp as he lured enemies into position for a blast of firepower leading to a new TG world record of 205,430 points.

ZeroBlackMore – Enduro (Atari 2600) – Distance

New TG member ZeroBlackMore roared onto the TG leaderboard with an amazing record on one of the most beloved Activision titles for the Atari 2600 – the 1983 release Enduro. With the objective of passing a certain number of cars each day to continue the test of endurance, ZeroBlackMore displayed great gaming chops by racing for nearly 2 hours straight or 31 "in-game" days as he pushed the odometer to a new record distance of 6584.7 kilometers. Congratulations!

This covers our Scoreboard Spotlight for this week. As a reminder, these were just a few of exceptional records that were adjudicated and accepted recently. Every record that made it through verification and landed on our leaderboards has a well-deserved place in the Twin Galaxies gaming pantheon.

Keep scoring high, finishing fast, and game on!
