Sean Dwyer – Magical Tetris Challenge (Nintendo 64) – Points
Sean Dwyer lived up to the motto “Friendship is magic” with beloved characters from the Magic Kingdom as he claimed a new high score of 139,500 points on Magical Tetris Challenge for the Nintendo 64.
Andrew Mee – Monster Hunter World (PlayStation 4) – Time
Andrew Mee hitched a ride on a lizard before jump-scaring a dragon from its sleep with a spirited run on Monster Hunter World for the PS4. Moments before that Andrew had chopped off part of the dragon's tail but he came back to deliver more pain and a fastest completion time of 23:01.8 on “Redefining the 'Power Couple'” quest.
John Brissie – Test Drive Unlimited (PlayStation 2 - PAL) – Fastest Time
John Brissie hoisted the Classic Cup 1 as the new TG champ on Test Drive Unlimited for the PS2 (PAL region). Fired up in his Caterham CSR 260, John overtook the CPU competition from the starting line and stayed in front the rest of the way to finish his 3-lap race in 3:52.178.
Roger De Vore – Capcom Gold Medal Challenge '92 (NES) – Shot Put - Furthest Distance
Streamed as part of a 4 hour Olympic retro game finale special on August 12, Roger De Vore added to his hardware haul with another gold on Capcom Gold Medal Challenge '92 for the NES. Taking aim with the Shot Put, Roger nearly broke the sound barrier as his thumb blurred along the controller buttons to unleash a new record distance of 29.40 meters.
This covers our Scoreboard Spotlight for this week. As a reminder, these were just a few of exceptional records that were adjudicated and accepted recently. Every record that made it through verification and landed on our leaderboards has a well-deserved place in the Twin Galaxies gaming pantheon.
