It's fair to say that the sun never sets on the gaming community – whether in the comfort of home, on the road, or in a tournment, people are putting up amazing achievements around the clock. And we should know! That's what makes us excited to share five highlights from the previous week of TG submissions for the Scoreboard Spotlight. This week, we're going to do some extreme motocross racing, a battle against the Crystals, major league 16-bit baseball, digital swimming and major frog hopping across stream and road, so let's go!
Daniel Ocampo – Trials Rising (PlayStation 4) – Fastest Completion
Daniel Ocampo saw the sights of the Grand Canyon like few others – from the seat of a flying motorbike on Trials Rising for the PS4. Right from the word “Go!” Daniel had the spectators cheering with amazing aerial stunts as he raced along on a roller coaster railroad before flying off into the canyon himself after hitting a fastest time of 48.681 seconds.
Michal Kellner – Raiden II (M.A.M.E.) – Points
Michal Kellner reclaimed top spot on the TG leaderboard with a new record on the 1993 arcade shooter Raiden II. Despite their defeat earlier defeat, the machines controlled by the Crystals regrouped for a new attack on Earth – but Michal was ready to fight the mini-bosses for an explosive final score of 895,350 points.
Intellivision Master– Super Pro Baseball (Mattel Intellivision) – Run Differential
Intellivision Master returned to the ballpark and left a champion by clinching a new TG world record on Super Pro Baseball for the Mattel Intellivision console. Through 9 innings, Intellivision Master gave a master class in pain as he banished the visiting CPU team 34-2 and earned a record run differential of 32.
bryguy – Swimmer (Arcade) – Points
During the Challenge Arcade for World Record Weekend on September 28, bryguy toppled a 13 year-old record by swimming like no arcade gamer has ever swam before on the 1983 arcade release Swimmer. Although he suffered two early deaths, bryguy got into the zone and was on fire in water avoiding frantic nemies and obstacles to close out by doubling the previous record with 301,920 points.
Froggerforever – Frogger (Arcade) – Points
No one said getting an arcade world record was easy, just ask froggerforever. After getting an original Frogger arcade circuit board in July, his arcade cabinet crashed in late August and then the monitor blew up in early September. But along the way, he surpassed a series of incredible high score milestones before getting his cabinet primed for a new amazing feat – a record-shattering score of 1,404,570 points. Congratulations!
This covers our Scoreboard Spotlight for this week. As a reminder, these were just a few of exceptional records that were adjudicated and accepted recently. Every record that made it through verification and landed on our leaderboards has a well-deserved place in the Twin Galaxies gaming pantheon.
