Who has ever lost track of time because you're having so much fun? Maybe that's why October flew by so fast, with a constant stream of video game player achievements filling up our calendar! And as we get ready to close out month, we've assembled five highlights from recently-approved submissions that crossed our desk over the last week. For what we have lined up, how about some fencing, fighting, racing, and more fighting? Read on!
Chad Brevik – Track & Field II (NES) – Fastest Victory
En garde! Chad Brevik led the charge and vanquished his CPU opponent in record time playing Track & Field II for the NES. Mixing parries and lunges, Chad stopped the clock at 5:31 to take a fastest victory with 29 seconds for a three-way tie at first place on the TG leaderboard.
Almighty Dreadlock – The LA Gear Retro Fighting Game Challenge (Street Fighter II) – Points
Almighty Dreadlock unleashed Guile on The LA Gear Retro Fighting Game Challenge and netted a potential rank of third place in the “Gamer versus World Warriors” contest. Through three matches, Almighty drew up a final score of 269,100 points. Can you do better? No excuses! The Challenge has been extended to November 11, so get fighting and claim some amazing prizes!
Evan04 – Cool Riders (M.A.M.E.) – Points
Giddyap! Evan04 and his trusty iron steed blew away the competition with a rousing victory on Sega's 1995 arcade racing game Cool Riders. Roaring past adoring crowds, Evan04 swept the game's 5 “Made in the USA” stages for a stars and stripes celebration at the finish line in 3:25.16.
Fordy – TrackMania Nations Forever (PC) – Fastest Time
Fordy might be the first TG member to bobsled in a truck and earn a new personal best on TrackMania Nations Forever. Fortunately, the Olympic referees were no where to be seen as Fordy charged down the icy TMO Platform B2 course for a fastest time of 1:03.87.
Intellivisiondude – Diner (Intellivision) – Points
Intellivisiondude was back as Peter Pepper with a zany world record on Diner for the Mattel Intellivision console. Locked in battle against evil Hot Dogs, Cherries, Bananas, and Mugs of Root Beer, Intellivisiondude rolled the baddies with food balls for over an hour to secure a tasty high score of 719,800 points.
This covers our Scoreboard Spotlight for this week. As a reminder, these were just a few of exceptional records that were adjudicated and accepted recently. Every record that made it through verification and landed on our leaderboards has a well-deserved place in the Twin Galaxies gaming pantheon.
Keep scoring high, finishing fast, and game on!
