Looking Back At GuardiaN's Incredible IEM Katowice 2018 Ace

One of the best players in CS:GO history delivered a round that will forever be apart of his legend.

The IEM Katowice 2018 Grand Finals were an intense back and for struggle between the powerhouse roster of FaZe Clan and a Fnatic team who many did not expect to see in the championship match, but were playing their best Counter-Strike in years. Going into the third map of the grand finals, both teams were looking to take the 2-1 match lead with a win on Overpass. Fnatic was able to take a 6-2 lead through the first eight rounds and collect all of the momentum. It looked as though Fnatic would take yet another round, as four players of FaZe Clan were all mowed down by the group of Fnatic defenders on the B bombsite. All alone, Ladislav "GuardiaN" Kovács was outnumbered 5-1 and needed to pull off a miracle to not let his opponent secure the round. The legendary AWP Player would do just that.

GuardiaN began his comeback by escaping the bombsite and then quickly rengaging the Fnatic defenders. A quick shot by GuardiaN into tunnel would take out Robin "flusha" Rönnquist and reduce Fnatic to four alive players. Even with the kill on flusha, commentator Henry "HenryG" Greer echoed everyone's thoughts that it was a done round and all that was left to see was whether or not GuardiaN would try to save the AWP for the next round. Not ready to call it quits just yet, Guardian used a well thrown flashbang to disorient Jesper "JW" Wecksell in Tunnel and was able to eliminate him. Seeing Jonas "Lekr0" Olofsson challenging him, Guardian is able to pull of an insane headshot on the Fnatic player where he was only scoped in for a frame at most. This is the moment when everyone watching knew that GuradiaN had a legitimate shot at pulling off the win, as cheers begun to ring throughout the venue.

With all of the momentum on his side, Guardian would make his way through Tunnel and dispatch Maikil "Golden" Selim for his fourth kill of the round. With Freddy "KRIMZ" Johansson as the last remaining player for Fnatic, a chess match ensued as both he and GuardiaN made their way to the A bombsite for their final showdown. Positioning himself into Lobby, GuardiaN gave himself a great view of where Krimz would be making his entrance into the bombsite. Seeing an incendinary grenade being thrown towards Back-A, FaZe Clan's sniper knew exactly where Krimz was going to make himself visible. Scoped in, GuardiaN is able to land the headshot as soon as Krimz showed himself. Clutching a round that he had no business winning, GuardiaN sent his teammates into a roar of cheers, while the players of Fnatic were completely shocked that they had just lost the round.

While Fnatic would eventually win the series 3-2 and claim the IEM Katowice 2018 championship, GuardiaN delivered an ace that no CS:GO fan will ever forget.
