Sometimes score chasing is for the birds – or the gamer who wants to hang glide.

Can it be? Truly? We don't want to jinx it, but is s-p-r-i-n-g on the way? For others, it's autumn, so it's “change” for everybody! Speaking of change, there's been a lot of that happening on the TG leaderboard – new records or personal bests from veteran and newcomer alike. So much so, it makes our job a lot harder to make our selection of five highlights to share. But the show must go on, so let's start at the Fuji Speedway, followed by a trip down the paper delivery lane, then we're off on a cross-country road trip, a car-jumping extravaganza and finally some air-time above the 8-bit landscape, so let's go!

Mike Hartman – Pole Position (Arcade) – Points

After some time off, Mike Hartman is back in the driver's seat with the arcade hit Pole Position. In his latest submission, Mike finished his run with 30 seconds left on the clock to hit a new personal best of 66,910 points.

BroccoliRob – Paperboy (Nintendo Game Boy) – Points

Read all about it! BroccoliRob won big on Paperboy for the Nintendo Game Boy by delivering The Daily Sun to his faithful subscribers for a 7 day run that earned him their eternal gratitude and a new TG record of 115,850 points.

JohnnyBee – Out Run (Arcade) –  Points

Driving to Hiroshi Kawaguchi's iconic Splash Wave music track, JohnnyBee cruised to a new personal best score on Sega's 1986 arcade hit Out Run. On his cross-country run, JohnnyBee cleared all five stages and arrived at the Goal line with a high score of 50,990,180 points to take second place on the TG leaderboard.

Bigfriendly – Bump 'n' Jump (Atari 2600) – Points

Bigfriendly outjumped David Lee Roth with a new personal best on Bump 'n' Jump for the Atari 2600. Through six stages of 8-bit action, he outwitted the CPU competition with giant leaps that made it feel like it was 1984 all over again for a final tally of 254,624 points.

David Gaither – Fast Freddie (M.A.M.E.) – Points

David Gaither took off on a fantastic video trip and returned with an Olympian record on Atari's 1982 arcade release Fast Freddie. Using critical timing and strategy to thread his hang glider through congested skills filled with aircraft, helicopters and birds, David soared for 9 straight hours before landing with an epic high score of 13,247,320 points as part of the Winter 2025 Yolympics.

This covers our Scoreboard Spotlight for this week. As a reminder, these were just a few of exceptional records that were adjudicated and accepted recently. Every record that made it through verification and landed on our leaderboards has a well-deserved place in the Twin Galaxies gaming pantheon.

Keep scoring high, finishing fast, and game on!
