it Super Smash Bros. still a legitimate competitive esports scene? Plus, discussion of Dragon Ball FighterZ's beta performance and whether Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition's is too little, too late.

Super Smash Bros. Melee has almost always been a contentious topic of legitmacy in the fighting game community. Despite this, fans, players, and investors still look to the game as an investment well worth their time. Is Smash Bros. Melee still a legtimate modern day competitive scene? Meanwhile, Dragon Ball FighterZ stumbled in its beta windows. Does this hurt the game's final release?

Dragon Ball FighterZ has had several closed and open betas at this point which have brought up some serious problem leading up to its launch. Unfortunate net code and mechanics have caused players to wait for long periods of time for a fight only to sometimes have people quit the match without fear of consequence. Does allowing customers to see these problems up front hurt the overall performance of a game once released?

The panel discusses the positives and negatives of Dragon Ball FighterZ running into these issues right before launch. The discussion then turns towards how fans and players will react to these issues, as well as how Bandai Namco and Arc System Works might address any issues on the day one launch. Developers and publishers like Bungie are discussed in relation to how they handled their betas and launches on games like Destiny.

Next, the discussion turns towards Super Smash Bros. MeleeMelee's place among the fighting game community has always been a matter of controversy and argument, from its inclusion into the Evolution Championship Series (EVO) to the general interaction between Melee fans and fans of other games in the fighting game community. Nonetheless, the Melee scene thrives with fans, players, and investors - So much so that esports Team Dignitas signed two pro Melee players to represent the team in official tournament play.

Does Melee deserve its place among the fighting game community and on the main stage at events like EVO? Discussion explores the relationship between Melee and the rest of the fighting game universe, considering the scene that Melee had before it was apart of EVO, and how it is perceived from the outside. Has Melee earned its place among the competitive fighting game scene or could it stand on its own as its own scene? Discussion also covers whether or not Nintendo nurtures the competitive community or stifles it.

Lastly, Street Fighter V: Arcade Edition has released, drawing both praise and criticism of this edition as the game that should have simply been released from day one. Is Capcom justified in releasing unfinished products as full games and then building upon them later or is this a predatory and unacceptable tactic for the fighting franchise king? Discussion covers how Street Fighter has evolved in both its positive and negative aspects as well as how Capcom has handled the series.

The show has wrapped for today, but you still can catch the video in its entirety above.
