BOUNTY CLAIM RANK #3 WILL RECEIVE - One (1) TG Achievement Point, and One (1) $100 Amazon eGift Card.

Additional Information:

This Bounty Challenge leaderboard only contains 10 viewable competitive slots, however claimants are free to submit as many times as they want to. The leaderboard only shows the top 10 highest score submissions.

The Bounty Challenge will remain open, accepting as many submissions as possible until 11:59PM PST on NOVEMBER 30th 2022.

Only one score performance of an individual claimant can occupy the leaderboard at any time, therefore if the same claimant submits a better performance than their previous submission it will replace their lower scoring performance on the leaderboard.

TG Achievement points should be considered valuable and rare, so don't miss a chance to grab one if you can! Aside from only being able to acquire them through bounty accomplishment, these points are very likely to be recognized in the future by TG as one avenue for determining things such as uniquely earned access, privilege related recognition, and other opportunities. TG Achievement points will never be sold. They will never be tradeable. TG Achievement points represent the accomplishment of unique tasks, set by TG, that demonstrate proof of skill outside of specific world record or general leaderboard achievement.

We have chosen Donkey Kong (Arcade version) as our first official bounty to help recognize and honor Twin Galaxies' classic arcade gaming roots, and to provide a simple yet competitive stress test for our beta.

Once the bounty closes, no more new claims will be accepted into submissions. Any claim that has not completed its adjudication (still sitting in the voting queue) but was submitted before the above time/date will remain accepted into submissions and processed.

80sArcadeKid -

Need clarification if L1-1 girders is when you press player 1 start (intro cutscene)... OR... after the intro climb, stomp and "How High can you get?" message.

NB: I'm 99.9% sure it's the girders after the "How high can you get?" message, as the game is drawing on the first board girder (L1-1). Most submissions have used this point.

80sArcadeKid -

For those using MAME, if you download LiveSplit https://livesplit.org/ and have a delay of 15.4 seconds after the P1 start button is pressed, it should start on the first frame of the girder render. (reaply wont let me paste images)

Wanted to address a question I received on private messaging from a member who wants to submit an arcade submission. The rules outlined in the 'additional information' rules are overcomplicated and outdated. They have not been upddated by the new Twin Galaxies administration to be current standards. I believe they may pre-date TGSAP as far as I am aware.

The main things to show is an uninterrupted video of:

- The game performance from player 1 start to completion of entry of your initials in the hiscore table. This could be a video of the CRT/LCD monitor or a direct feed from a capture device such as a 'Mr Video'.

- Inclusion of showing the original PCB, dip switches and 4-way restrictor plate on the joystick (as described in rules). I usually do this with the camera I'm recording the game on (webcam) and a light through the coin door. This may not be possible with a multi-PCB cab (DK & Jr) and you may have to pull the cab out and go through the back door as described in the rules.

Having a remix or highscore save kit installed is fine. However, I'm not sure about the 3DK Ultimate Donkey Kong Multigame Kits installed, I've never had to vote on one of those.

What is completley irrelevant is:

Pretty much anything else that is described in the additional information, outside of the instructions for showing the full game, PCB, dips, restrictor plate at some time in your performance (usually at the end otherwise you are doing it every attempt).

If Twin Galaxies want to ammend or clarify anything I've said here, please do, but I know a lot of performances  (including mine) that have been adjudicated and accepted using TGSAP without these convelated additional rules.

Barra -

I think we're going to need some sort of 24-hour rule to stop people submitting at the last second with old scores. Kind of takes the fun of it away to be honest

Marco1019 -

It looks like this bounty closed a day early, no?

This is posted as the second paragraph under Additional Information: "The Bounty Challenge will remain open, accepting as many submissions as possible until 11:59PM PST on NOVEMBER 30th 2022."

Today is November 30 as I write this comment.

Jace Hall -

Yes the challenge closed 1 day early likely due to a bug in the system (this is a public beta)

80sArcadeKid -

Damn missed my chance to put it the 131,400 I was holding on to. ;)

TWIN GALAXIES -

Congrats to all the participants!

We are currently waiting to see if the #1 submission successfully passes adjudication before we can aware all the prizes.

Stay tuned!

Barra -

So sandbagging a 10 day score until the last second is OK?

danman1234 -

Regardless the contest says its open until 11:59pm PST TODAY not 3am today my time. it shouldnt be over .

Also there needs to be a rule that scores must be submitted within 24 of achieving them like yolympics and the like otherwise this will happen with every bounty and kind of takes the fun out of it. I get maybe not right away but no it needs to be within 24 hours and just be fair and have fun all. When its not in the rules there really isnt any foul play hold the score hoping it holds up and submit last minute. The only thing that could have bit you in the but is if the thing closed a day early like it did now and I just spent 4 hours playing this for NOTHING? Not cool.

Submissions need to be reopened or take it from the regular DK submission pool. I appreciate its a "bug" but so now its just done sorry you wasted 4 hours of you day for absolutely nothing?????

Jace Hall -

The contest had a physical countdown timer displayed on the bounty itself that ran until its end. That did not end prematurely and skip 24 hours.

A similar timer can be found on this bounty.

https://www.twingalaxies.com/bounty/500-fishing-derby-speedrun-bounty-fastest-99-points-atari-2600/

It was made clear that the bounty system is still in a testing phase and that there will be some issues found.

I will see if there is a way to reopen this for then next 3 hours or whatever is left.

danman1234 -

I understand its a new beta feature and all that. I wasnt checking a countdown timer I read "November 30, 11:59PM PST" that is all. I havent been nearly as involved in this as Barra and others. I only had time to play it like the last couple of days but I put in as much time last night as I did those prior 2 days so it was just frustrating :) I just randomly looked to make sure I read PST and NOT GMT or UTC and saw this entire thread going on. I actually think this bounty system is a good idea and a unique approach here. Still in the grand scheme of this it should ENCOURAGE people to participate openly and honestly. Allowing people to sandbag and turn a score in at the last second just takes the fun out of it for everyone but the sandbagger. Its akin to the old days of TG where people hid their submissions and strats. No one really wants to go back there do they?? This happened multiple times in Yolympics and other CAG tournaments to the point rules were introduced to say you must submit a score within 24 hours of achieving it. I would strongly encourage the same setup here for these bounty submissions where it ends on a finite date and not just first to get the bounty.

Jace Hall -

I was able to re-open it. It will expire at 11:59pm PST today.

80sArcadeKid -

An interesting part of this challenge I'd like to know.... was there scores that got validated without INP analysis?

This is because you have a pool of known and trusted DK players with deep knowledge of the game voting on DK submissions. To me this is the best method of adjudication, a active pool of players for a game that they know "what's what" with performances, even for adjudicating new players.

An INP analysis is a great backup if you want to dispute a score, but when you have enough 'experts' voting on what plays like a valid submission then you are gonna see the submission get though quick without the analysis.

@TWIN GALAXIES If you want to improve the process there would be an automatic analysis of submitted zipped INPs.

I’m a nobody in the world of Kong but I see a lot of people getting mad at the last minute score submission. I get it but at the same time a good poker player never reveals his hand until he has to and never think you have it in the bag! A rule may be necessary to submit score within a day or two of achieving it to avoid conflict but had he submitted a 10 day old score but it was only for 5th or 6th place nobody would’ve batted an eye! Just saying

Barra -

in my eyes its supposed to be a fun competition with a small incentive.

myself, justin, geoff, tecchio + others were discussing strats etc the whole time this bounty was active, which is what makes it enjoyable for me. if you don't have that, you have nothing

if this is the way these leaderboard bounties go, no one will submit all week/month/whatever until the last second and where is the fun in that

danman1234 -

Exactly what happens is no one shares, no one posts and then 50 submissions show up at 11:58pm. I hope that is not going to end up being the expectation here but when I saw this I KNEW this was going to happen.  First thing I told my wife "Watch someone will come in last minute with a sandbag since the rules dont say otherwise". :D

Its quite simple just say "Everyone in the spirit of good sportsmanship everyone needs to ensure they submit any entry they have for a bounty within 24 hours of completing your score." That will encourage people to participate more and not worry about anyone trying to sandbag a score. I dont consider asking people to do that like poker because this isnt just ONE hand of poker. This is a tournament.  You have to show each and every hand when you play poker right? You dont get to take AAAA or a Royal Flush and hold those cards until the end of the tournament right? You show them or fold them at the end of that hand and then play the next one. Again I would ask that this is considered to be the way time limited bounties are run just to keep if fun for everyone involved. I would also put some verbage in there that it has to be a new submissions done within the time frame of the bounty so people dont pull up 2 year old inp files unless that isnt going to be considered an issue here. Later all!

Madhatter3339 -

Barra I don’t mean any disrespect to anybody. I don’t think anybody wants you or the other top players to not participate so hopefully twin galaxies will review these comments and make a new rule. I certainly want to compete against you guys to push myself and of course some bragging rights should the gaming gods bless me somehow!!!

danman1234 -

Jace did show up. I was a little frustrated but they did say it was new and still in beta so I needed to take that into consideration. I think these have a lot of potential and will evolve as they go.

Jace Hall -

Still waiting on the #1 score to pass adjudication. If you have not voted on it yet, please do so we can award the prizes!
