The PSvita will always be the best portable console ever made and I just hate how it will be Sony's last.

Man, I've just got to disagree...

The split screen, and touch capabilities of the DS, along with all the other craziness it can do, really makes it my favorite.

OK, even at that-I'm not saying it's "the best", and I've never played a Vita, lol-I just guess I think the NDS had, and still has, the most innovative playstyle options for developers to take advantage of.

I just think it's the most "interesting" game system ever, including consoles, there are sooo many different ways to play different games.

    :)

nes will always have a special place in my heart. atari was my first in that it was my familys first. nes was the first i personally owned and was such a quantum leep forward. many of the great series to this day started on the nes. even if a better system in theory came out, it wouldnt be as amazing when you take its time period into account as nes was when you take its time period into account. it was also nice how we all did the same thing, noone played sega (nes so i'm still talking sega master system days not genesis) and even the fact there were so few gaems in a way made it better since we were all playing the same games and all had the same thing to talk about. great time, great times.

You said your favorite, I meant at a pure specs standpoint. Sure, Nintendo has the gimmicks down that is no lie but as a pure gaming portable, the Vita will be the pinnacle. Sony said the mobile gaming market was one of the reasons it didn't fair well..

I would struggle to make a list of my top/favorite consoles. But if I had to I would start at this sure thing at the bottom.....Genesis.

Why would you put the Genesis at the bottom when the RCA Studio II exists? And the Mattel Hyperscan?

I think we need to make some ground rules for this because if it's nostalgia, I would choose a different system for each gaming Genre or play style. SNES for RPGs, NES for challenge, Xbox for most fun, 360 for online competition, N64 for group play...If we are really going into capabilities, quality of overall games released, innovation to gaming in general, that's a whole other beast of a discussion and I would have to do a lot of research since I have never owned a PS system and maybe played at most 4-5 hours total on one.

I will say I believe Nintendo owns the portable systems. The DS consoles are awesome when it comes to innovation. Double screens, touch pad controls. However, they have limited backwards compatibility which limits the library unless you use the eShop stores. 3DS specific games can't be played on older DS versions either. The Nintendo SP 101 probably has the greatest library of games of ANY non hacked gaming system ever and the best back lit screen of that era. Plays GB, GBC, and GBA released games. That's a huge library of games on the best screen available. So my best portable is definitely the Nintendo SP 101.

Seriously, Nintendo needs to release a Switch sized/slightly larger 3DS or dare I say Game Gear sized handheld that can play all cartridges GB/GBA/DS. It would only need to have two separate cartridge slots on something the size of the Switch/Game Gear and BAM, the ultimate portable machine in one. I'm sure they could create a mother board to run all those specific game specs without needing emulation as well. I'd buy that in a heart beat.

Lets be honest, almost all of us had a Genesis for one reason and one reason only. Sonic.

Never had a Genesis. Got my first MegaDrive in the 2000s and definitely not because of the tripe of Sonic. :P

In my thinking, the Switch is a death blow to any future "hand held"-only machine coming out of Nintendo. Surely there will only now be one device in future from Nintendo? (Just multiple bloody versions of it...) It'll be a handheld device with option TV output... Wait, wait, the Nokia N95 did that before Android and iOS took off!!! Silly me, expecting something new from Nintendo - they're the Microsoft OSs of the consoles: just repeating stuff others have already sold for more than a generation.

I can't rank a system that I've never played or even heard of. My personal list starts with Genesis on the bottom. The controller was so bad. It responded like if I was playing with my elbos and chin on the pad. It can't find a straight line or diagonal to save my life so I lost many. PITA console. I want my games to be fun, not anger inducing. I can probably play any other console better with super thick mittens on. GRRR!!!

Yeah, I think it will be 10 years or so before Nintendo puts out another system. I'm not sure what the point of the "hand held"only Switch is, but it already is out there.

I think many people thought the 3DS was done but Nintendo says it's going to keep going. I like the 3DS.

OK, fair enough. But you've got an Intellivision score, and if we want to talk about bad controllers...
