ADJUDICATING INTELLIVISION STAR STRIKE

For Adjudication Purposes - Since I won't be around here forever, or I may not be around when this awesome game is submitted by a player - I should mention a glitch on Star Strike:

When a player starts the game, the player selects either Button 3,2,1,Disc,4 or 5 for the six options of game.

The Rules state that "a player must show the button that s/he selects on video to prove the starting game level".

HOWEVER .......

Sometimes for no reason the button that a player selects is not the same as the game variation that the console starts - therefore showing the game variant button is not 100% foolproof.

Approximately 1/20 times that you start a game, the wrong game variant will load. More often when you want Game 5 and it loads game 4. But it can happen on any game variant.

Q: Why hasn't anyone noticed this?

A: No-one really needs to play 25 games of Star Strike as it gets boring AND/OR no-one even noticed. It's possible that the player didn't notice that it was playing on one speed level faster or slower. It's possible that the player thought he must have pressed the wrong button.

Q2: How will I know if it's the correct level when I try the game?

A2: When you're going for a good score on a particular game level, you're going to try many, many times. You will notice that 1/20 times that you start the game, the game-play is going faster or slower than the other 19 times that you just played. You will notice right away.

For reference, I have a score on all 6 tracks at TG on Star Strike; all playing at the correct speed of play if you want to ever compare.

Here's Another reference - it may help:

Game 1 (Button 3): Very Slow Moving Corridor, Very Slow Enemy Ships, Very Slow Moving Red Mother Ship

Game 2 (Button 2): Medium Speed Moving Corridor, Medium Speed Enemy Ships, Medium Speed Moving Red Mother Ship

Game 3 (Button 1): Fast Moving Corridor, Fast Enemy Ships, Fast Moving Red Mother Ship

Game 4 (Disc): Lightning Fast Speed Moving Corridor, Lightning Speed Enemy Ships, Lightning Speed Moving Red Mother Ship. Planet Earth moves very slowly across the game screen towards the middle of the screen.

Game 5 (Button 4): Same speed of Game as Game 4. Planet Earth immediately bolts towards the middle of the screen since if you miss one Red Mother Ship on this game level, Planet earth gets blown-up.

Game 6 (Button 5): The score moves upward from zero. On every other game level, the score starts at 8,000 and your score goes down as you play.

Hope this helps - Keep a keen eye!

you can leave a comment on the track itself. a pet peve of mind is , since i believe this feature should be used exceedingly rarely due to how it can clutter and hide needed info, is if its filled up with just one time questions or dispute info. This though would seem appropriate there
