I do believe that this may be worth what they are asking for. Given all of the unfolding history and more to come, there are very few video game culture collectibles that are not either video games or video game hardware. This TG stuff may be considered by some to be fairly unique in the world.

Seeing this sort of thing could suggest that the upcoming TG Certificates may have the potential to gain value as well over time, but we will see.

What do you think?

Wasn't the Fairfield location a much later spot? Like late 90's? Does anyone have more info on that locale?

To me $2k looks way to high for everything I'm seeing.

If this is from the 90s it's not much different that any number of scarce event posters. Is it cool? Sure. Is there a market for 2k tg items not even affiliated with the original location? Not that I've seen, but I could be wrong.

Also, looks like Walters auto was added after the fact. The guy is still alive and signs a ton. So I think there are more interesting items out there.

I see a < $50 piece of ephemera in a crappy frame.

Given the pop culture notoriety surrounding the issue, I wonder what an original "The King of Kong" movie poster would be worth if it was actually signed by the real life 1982 arcade WR breaker and real life official Twin Galaxies world record holder at the time contemporary events began to unfold in the so-called "documentary"?

Remember, this poster would actually be signed by the actual record breaker and holder at the time and NOT the two play pretend "movie actors" exploiting someone else's achievement as their own that are depicted on it.

I guarantee there are only two such posters in existence.

Where the tag line "A Fist Full of Quarters" is printed, the word "Quarters" is crossed out and the word "Bull****" is appropriately written over it. Now there's a very rare and collectable piece of arcade memorabilia as there are only two of these posters. I'm sure there are reams opon reams of these poster signed by the two "movie actors" featured , but only 2 are actually signed by the original "king of Kong" to whom the "documentary is actually based.

Yes, Walter Day opened the Fairfield location in July 1994, and it was closed by early 1995 so I think it operated for less than a year. I saw this certificate several months ago, and while I would love to acquire it as part of TG history, I don't have the pockets for a 2k certificate of this kind. It has a few strikes against it from an aesthetic viewpoint, and it relates to a very specific and less well-known period of TG history. If this certificate actually went up for auction, I have profound doubts there would be a bidding war to push it to 2k. If it was something from the Ottumwa arcade circa 1981-1984, and was a little more visually striking/unique, I could see a price approaching that valuation. But to Jace's general point, yes, I could see TG memorabilia appreciating over time and that could easily include upcoming digital TG items as well.
