A small fee, to participate here isn't out of line, IMO.

Twitch watchers spend a LOT of time watching Twitch.

It's a "service".

Why the hell is it free?

That's a lot of content. I probably have about 500 videos there (just checked and it's 441). Most of my noteworthy stuff has been uploaded to YT and some submitted here to TG, but it would be a shame if they just pulled the plug on all of that.

YouTube leads the way in "freely available" video content and payments to content makers. If anyone steps into that environment they're competing with Google's ads revenue streams: there's money in free content for Google...

And thats why i store all my videos right here at home. No matter who shuts down i still have all my proof :-) Just remember folks there is no such thing as "the cloud" its just someone else's computer and you are at their mercy.

Yep, on optical media... not magnetic. ;)

... you know, because the thing I'll need once all electronics have failed is... my video gaming videos on a media I can't use. LOL, don't worry: I can't fathom my own logic... either.

Same here. I keep a recording of every stream I've ever done. The only part that sucks is it loses the chat, and I'm really not trying to have the chat as part of my overlay.
