Server Improvements!

We have made some significant changes on the backend and have updated the website.

Please take a look around and see if anything new that used to work no longer works. If you find anything please let me know in the comments associated with this post.

You may also notice some speed increases in certain places within the site such as the submission review area.

This upgrade has allowed us to install better tools for us to use to debug and find problems within the site faster.

Also, the dreadful website stall issue has been resolved.

    Ok - so far no reports of problems...

    Has anyone noticed any speed increases in any areas?

    Just hoping that the site experience has been made a little better...

    With the server updated we can now continue our work to fix more visible issues...

    Been away from the site for a little while. It could be my cached javascript content but the first comment I made on return experienced the "dreaded stall". None since (hopefully due to the cached content being updated).

    Has the archive version of the site been done away with? It used to live at https://www.twingalaxies.com/archive/ and numerous sub-pages. I just get the odd message "This user has not registered and therefore does not have a profile to view."

    Barathax is referring to a hyperlink that wasn't really posted but I divined its existence through Google searches - the /archive/ was a "backdoor" way to access archived content that wasn't listed on the main archive page you cited. For example, compare the link you shared

    https://webcache.googleusercontent.com/search?q=cache:aMU8agvIwzUJ:https://www.twingalaxies.com/archive/index.php/f-353.html+&cd=1&hl=en&ct=clnk&gl=ca

    On the Google cache of /archive/, you'll see that there are a grouping of forums that aren't listed on the archive page you cited - 11 forums under heading CONSOLE PLATFORMS (should be visible directly after "Missile Command Controversy" forum), 6 sub-forums under "Track Variation Discussion - Outdated," 4 forums under heading COMPUTER PLATFORMS (should be visible after Cyberathlete Professional League (CPL)), 2 forums under heading ARCADE (should be visible after TG/Snipercade Decathalon 2003), and 3 forums under heading NEW VARIATIONS

    Although the old /archive/ route doesn't seem to work anymore, taking "Classic Consoles Archive" as an example, it's still there under /forumdisplay.php/ but again there's no direct way to access this forum from 353-ARCHIVED

    ^ As The Evener points out. :D It used to be a "well-known" way for bots to index forums without causing massive bandwidth issues downloading all the JS/CSS/etc fluff that humans need. Made for a much easier user experience for weirdos like myself who just want the information without the fluff. ;)

    Thanks for the interesting posts, the other day I was looking for forums on Deca2003 seems I need to try out the cache links, thanksmany....
