A fan, rival, or stalker?

This was too funny/weird/random not to share with the community.

Earlier tonight, my brother-in-law texted me the following two YouTube links...much to my surprise, I'm not only mentioned by name in the videos, but called out as a cheater too!

A ton of questions instantly popped into head - how did my bro-in-law stumble across these videos? Who the heck is Bruce Smith? Are these meant to be taken seriously, or is someone just having a laugh? And where can I get my hands on a Namco Plug & Play? :)

My bro-in-law said he was watching some retro game play, and wondered if any of my performances were on YouTube - he did a search of my name, and that's how he found them. As for Bruce, he is clearly a Pac & Pal fan (which is great), but is clearly NOT a fan of me and my score (not so great). The first video is particularly harsh - the description says "when this world ends Jason Vasiloff will be branded a cheater when God reveals it and reveals the real world record of Pac & Pal". A quote from the video says "there ain't no way that you got a million points in 10 days from a 300,000 score", a question he also asks to his friend Robin who replies "uh uh...no". Now, I haven't played Pac & Pal for quite awhile, so I had to go back and look at when I set the record - it was 1,206,050 points on July 7th, 2016. And my previous submission to the track? 383,660 points on June 27th, 10 days earlier, just as mentioned in the video. Bruce's first video was uploaded in January of this year - was he trolling the TG archives for all my past submissions, or has this just been bugging him for two and a half years?

Anyway, certainly a strange occurrence that I thought some of you might get a kick out of...who knows, maybe some of your scores are firing up unknown rivals as well. And to Bruce, I assure you, 10 days was indeed enough time for me to improve as much as I did...if so motivated, I could do it again with another 10 days, with or without a Plug & Play. I congratulate you on a very solid Pac & Pal score - you're just over halfway to giving me some real competition! Keep practicing :)

Thanks for sharing this, it's actually pretty interesting. If I find one of those Namco plug and play devices I'll let you know.

In support of Jason I have response to Bruce on his youtube video.

Hopefully he do get spurred on to submit to TG as well.

Well he did do it on the prestigious plug and play with video of score only and no game play. All you did was show entire gameplay on some non plug and play system. Who even competes on things that aren’t plug and play?

    ok at desktop now.

i do think you're taking a positive approach jason. though this guy is being a weenie, it does show he looked you up, that means despite TG being small in terms of active members, who knows how large it is in terms of viewers. could be all sorts of people viewing scores and just not getting invovled. also, to know your progression, he did a heck of a lot more than just check your score, he researched you, who knows how many else did the same and then kept their mouths shut.

you can be creeped out if you like privacy, or you can think its really really cool if you like attention.

in a round about way i see it as really positive. i mean, no, of course he's not positive, but what he's a symptom of is positive. the fact he even has this info on you is an indicator of the very positive reality that TG is doing better than the haters like to say.

Nice to know you can use a dumpster as a TV stand these days.. I think I see a can of old bean dip, dirty napkins and who know's what else. Are we sure these aren't DVD extra clips from Season 2 of "Hoarders" or possibly unseen footage from "Silence of the Lambs"? :P

Thanks Bill - I agree with all of your points, not only about this guy, but also about the fact that I think TG is still the place people come to first when wanting to look up a high score, whether they are actual members or not...definite positives to be taken out of this. Really nothing negative at all with this, as it would take more than a simple mentioning of my name to creep me out...the only thing that even slightly annoys me is, if you're going to act like someone didn't answer your challenge, and imply that they're afraid to do so and is a cheater, shouldn't they at least KNOW about the challenge in the first place? Can't duel with someone if they don't even know they've been asked.

Thanks Francois - I agree, would always be great to get new members and their submissions.

Thanks David - I'll admit, despite having a bunch of other gaming things on my agenda, part of me also wants to track down one of these devices and put up a mic-drop score haha!

I can't wait to hear your review of this system. The controller in particular doesn't appear to be of high quality. The stick looks like it will break/snap in short order. The good news is it's only $19.77 on amazon. I look forward to your video. Some good news... you'll get 11 other games as part of the plug and play you can crush as well. GL HF

It works with AA batteries. How long in hours can one play before the batteroes goes dead? anyone knows or tested this? Can one plug-in a be converted to have a AC-DC adaptor using custom wiring?

On this review batteries lasted about 20 hours, so be aware if you are playing continously and knowing the next game will be hit rather put fresh batteries in before recording.

Good luck for all of you will will play the games on this device. From the reviews it seems to be fun having something small, quick to connect.
