Bounties? You read my mind.

Been away from TG for probably a month or so due to a very crazy December. Just before I left, I was telling some CAG mates that one of the last threads I read here gave me the idea to offer up some bounties - while I told several people on Discord and Twitch, I didn't get the chance to post anything official. I come back, and all of a sudden I see several bounties have been offered on multiple platforms! Great minds think alike I guess...very cool to see! That being said, let me make my plans from last month official, and throw another log on the bounty fire...

We really need someone, somewhere, or something to track all these bounties. Otherwise they're going to be forgotten about rather quickly after they scroll off the wall, and nobody's going to scroll back through months or wall posts just to see if they're in there.

Thought that is what the wiki was for??

Doesn't look like that's what people want to use, and I don't think it's appropriate for me to add bounties to that list for others. So i guess we need something else.

I don't really care what, just that there should be something better than just wall and forum posts to do it.

If you think the wiki page is a better option, then by all means yes I think it's quite appropriate for you (or anyone) to add bounties to that list, then link the list on a forum post periodically. It will draw attention to the wiki page (then people may start actually using it).

Now by all means, I'm not suggesting you do anything you don't want to do, nor am I suggesting you are now forever responsible for noting all bounties. Pehaps this is an opportunity to show how well the wiki page works for something like this?

Note currently that wiki pages and wiki posts don't appear anywhere readily public (posts don't hit the front page, no notifications or subscriptions). People actually have to go look for them so it's easy for people to forget the wiki even exists.

I'm just uncomfortable with adding others' bounties because it involves peoples' money. I do think it makes sense to use, because it's already on the site. And if anyone's only opposed because they don't know how to use the wiki, I will help teach how to do so. (That offer goes for ANYONE here who wants to learn how to use it)

I totally agree that the wiki needs to be integrated into the main TG site to get people using it, and I've got lots of ideas how to do so. Heck, for bounties, there could just be a "Bounties" link added under, say, the "INFO" menu that simply goes to the wiki.

But in the end, I'm just more interested in seeing some means to keep track of the active bounties that allow us all to see what's available.

You have a fair point on the uncomfortable comment. Perhaps just links in the wiki to avoid any possible words being changed in the original bounty might work? For example, if a person were to say, link Jason's current ZK bounty wall post as an example, his wall post itself would speak for itself. The only thing the wiki would indicate is a link and that a bounty exists. As bounties are claimed, they can be removed from the wiki. Of course, should someone forget to remove the link once the bounty is claimed, it doesn't really matter as the original post of Jason's supersedes everything anyway. Just a thought. I'm not sure how or if that changes anything concern wise for anyone. Merely spitballing if you will. If it helps towards better ideas from anyone, then great. If not, that's ok too.

One suggestion for the wiki in general (not specific to bounties), since Jace suggested that tournaments will be soon removed for the time being, perhaps that front page "tournament" link could be replaced with the wiki link so the wiki is far more noticeable?

That... is a REALLY good idea. I think I'll move forward with that. :)
