What games have kill screens? Who has a kill screen under their belt?

So I've been working on research regarding kill screens just for ****s and giggles, and made this spreadsheet:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets...it?usp=sharing

This is a list of every kill screen able game that I know of (variations on speed if needed) for every console, but:

1. I know that there HAVE to be games missing.
2. I ABSOLUTELY know there are players missing.

So, if you know a game that needs to be added, or if you are a player who needs to be added, let me know!

Minestorm was on my mind before I looked at the list, was SURE you'd miss that one.
    I shoulda known better!

Honored, BTW-surely there are people missing from the Player list, it's pretty small considering the decades it covers...

I've killscreened arcade DK, arcade DK Jr and arcade Galaga (on the appropriate settings that provide such an event).

I had the DK and DK Jr. killscreens for you, Mr. Wagner, but didn't have Galaga. Thanks!

And Poco, yeah, I know. I just started SOLID research on who has kill screens this past Monday :D

    (Srry JD, sorta off topic).

    Ehh...
From what I've seen, pwn, all you really have to do is pick a game on the list and play the friggin thing a couple hours.
You, and almost every other player on ITG, it seems like.
Haven't given up, there's just nothing I can do to help you guys.

Literally every point helps. Keep pressing on like Lee Nails sir.

Ok back on topic for JD....I'd like to ks Dig Dug at some point. I'm a little over halfway there last time I played a serious game.

Don't know if you'd call it a KS or not but on King of Boxer for Arcade/Mame your opponent becomes invisible after so many wins. It is not likely to advance much further at this point

Interesting! The question becomes, is it intentionally programmed that way or not? I dunno.

I wouldn't think it was done intentionally but I guess without digging into the code who's to say. Can't remember for sure but it may be that both the enemy and player sprites disappear.

You included stunt cycle. How is that any different than super mario bros ending? Its the end. You jumped the max amount of buses and you win.

So I'm not sure if you include counter stop scores or not. But the vast majority (if not all) activision games for the atari are like stunt cycle in that once you reach a certain score the game just stops (you won).

I've heard frogger has a pseudo-kill screen, something about random unwinnable things sometimes happen, so thats another gray area.

Lots of 90s game would force you to use more than one quarter. a 1cc is literally impossible as certain scenes force you to die, but then let you pay to continue. Is that a kill screen?

Oh-I'm not too much into researching it, labzy, (lazy/busy...), but pretty sure on ferettis recent Halloween marathon submission on 2600, he mentions the score going all wonky.
Determining that exact point may qualify as a killscreen in the same way as Minestorm?

And for me, pretty much every game has a kill-screen.
    It's like, the second level...
    ;P

In my research, Stunt Cycle had a kill screen by filling the screen with so many buses that were physically impossible to pass; I didn't realize that was the normal ending! Oops!

It's not a "normal" track, but I managed to get to the split screen on Pac-Man turbo (no ghosts, no fruit challenge).

nope, its possible to get a max score. https://www.twingalaxies.com/showthread.php/150749 you can see ray doing it. Once you succesfully jump all 27 the game ends. i've done it 3 times (off camera) and ray's done it on camera.

I think whoever told you it was impossible only revealed it was impossible for them. Kinda like when myth busters "proves" real things are impossible just because they werent skilled enough to pull it off. Moral of the story is, dont trust anyone who says something is impossible until you see the proof. Alot of sore losers out there.

"I kill screened the Sears Stunt Cycle pong unit.

I maxed out the buses. The bus extended beyond the end of the screen. I kept jumping at full throttle. Then the entire screen completely filled with buses, and it made this horrendous noise."

That's what I had been told about the game, actually. Might just be that particular game breaking, though.

ah that may explain it. I was talking about the arcade. I did know there was a home version. Also, there was a port to the atari vcs, but they replaced buses with a larger and larger lake and the replaced the cycle with dukes of hazard car.

Cool list. You can find more details on DKJR and Crazy Kong kill screens at their respective lists on DKF (KS column):

    DKJR HSL
    CK HSL

Note that the CK list is for Crazy Kong Part II. There are a bajillion clones of the non-Part II CK. For my part, I've KS'd DK, CK Part II, and some CK clones.
