Austin Texas was hit with snow storm no electricity for almost 3 days with my Son & his mother

Making it. Cannot get new food because all major grocery stores are closed. I used the extended lighter to light up the gas stove to melt the snow into water, then filter it using water purifier to make it drinkable. Also, used it to sponge bathes. Plus, using the stove to warm the living room. I used candles and flashlights at night. Eat warm food & drinks like soup, broth, Coco, water.

Then using the snow to preserve the frozen food and drink to keep cool that was in the refrigerator and I put into ice chests.

Also, using the the snow to for the toilet, wash dishes, clean dishes,to mop water. Sealing windows & doors of air openings. Using some solar chargers to keep cellphone and electronics in servicing oder to contact emergency, family, friends, help.

Did your pipes freeze or something? I haven't heard of anybody being without water.

The pipes were frozen yes, waiting for the weather to warm up to unfreeze. The city temporarily chute down the electricity in the area to conserve energy, also the Wind Mills froze that provided some of the energy to Austin, Texas but now it has been almost 3 full days, when they will be going to turn the lights on, it is up to the city. I have no control of that, but I believe God will make a way.

    Thank you

do you think they are broken?

  4. JJT_Defender's Avatar

If any of the pipes are broken, they would not be in the apartment but underground outside & there is no way of telling, unless you dig it up also , the weather would have to warm up the ground, then you would see water a mud puddle in the ground that there is a major water leak and broken pipe but the ground is frozen now.

It is Meadowbrook apartment complex everybody's electricity is off.

Power companies here in Northeast Texas are doing rolling blackout. The high today will be 22. Sinks are at a slow stream to prevent freezing, outside cats have more blankets than we do inside, and we are prepared with a fireplace and many other things when it is our turn to get the power outage. Preparation is key to serving this mess. I am not using that dirty ass snow for anything.

Sorry to hear this man...I know Texas, Oklahoma, and Arkansas got hammered, but this makes it more real. Try to stay safe and good luck with your young son.

    How sad my friend.
I saw some news in today's paper. People who were found dead in their cars. They died from the cold. People who were using the heaters in the vehicles because they lacked power.

I will pray for you. For all your family and the other Texans. May God protect. Everything's going to be fine soon.

Hey, buddy. How are you doing? I hope your region already has running water and electricity. And that all your family members are fine.

    Thank you for asking

The Electricity finally came on, but the water pipe broke and other neighbors broke to, I had to shut it off from the outside valve, gallons of water spewed out , I cleaned it all up. Family is doing good. Going to convenience store to get water but grocery stores were either closed or had limited amount of food if any, no water, meat/bread/eggs/ produce/ juice/, they mostly had canned and packaged products , and their was no lights on at HEB when I shopped , you had to use a flashlight to find stuff.

But that is better than nothing, hopefully today their will be food and water maybe produce, meat and dairy juice products, using tang, dry milk, and water purifier to filter the melted snow water and boil the water after, so we can have water to drink.

How is you and your family doing, I hope all is well with you and that you have water , food and electricity and keeping warm and safe during these tough for all of us.

May God be your heart and soul & God bless you and your family and friends.

    Thank you
