Would like to hear TG members opinion before adding a new track

Formula 1 97 (Playstation) Rules:

Fastest lap of xxxxx track

  • No cheat codes are allowed
  • Must be done on Time Attack (Arcade Mode)
  • You may choose any one of the 11 cars in the game
  • Cutting corners of a track is allowed

Additional info:

Both Playstation 1/X and Playstation 2 are allowed to be used since the race tracks have in-game timers.

Since this was the first game of the Formula 1 game series to allow the use of analog sticks, players may choose freely to use either analog sticks or the directional buttons.

NOTE on corner cutting: Allowed since developers best times have done so also, and it requires skill to cut a corner at right angle and speed. Also, because of the game mechanics, it is impossible to cut a corner other than at the developers intended spots (grass and dirt areas significantly lower the cars speed, and all speed/time gain is lost).

I’d like to hear the community's opinion on limiting this only to Time Attack. Basically in the Grand Prix Mode the player can set up the car how he/she desires (fuel load, tires etc.) and decide the weather. Whereas in the Arcade Mode (includes Time Attack) all the cars are on their default settings and the weather stays the same. Time Attack has it’s own in-game leaderboard of fastest times which is why I’m leaning towards it.

I hope this sounds like a reasonable template for the rules; wanted to know other members thoughts before I create a track for this game.

its good to be explicit, helps remove arguments later. i would argue both "no cheat codes allowed" and "cutting corners" allowed goes without saying, but being explicit can help alot and so its good you included it. seems fine to me.

I added the "cutting corners" allowed, because I saw few tracks on some other racing games that banned corner cutting.

Use whole sentences for everything. Once the track is created it will be one big block of text (it's a bug).

Try not to put anything in the Additional Info box if it seems like a rule. It doesn't get posted onto the submission threads and will get missed so move it into the normal rules section.

Don't forget to make a decision on whether you want NTSC/PAL split.

    Otherwise, looking good. :)

Isn't the NTSC/PAL split an agreed practice around TG?

It's historical and not everyone agrees with it... As the author of the track you get to choose whether you continue that tradition.

I would suggest that it's worth splitting unless you know for certain the "other region" plays the same.
