2010?? Really, Pete??

So, a few nice notifications showing me that @Barthax beat some scores.

So, nothing new there. So I watched the entries. Then I saw the date played. 2010??
Pete, or one of his many clones, has a filing system going back more than a decade, and they are just waiting for suckers like me to come along. I make a score, then they whip a better score out from ten years ago!!
Awesome!! :D

LOL. No sandbagging, just a TGSAP which is designed to prevent the posting scores.

If you want to see which of my ~7000 unposted known PBs might affect you, see https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1pelLvOcLJL6XoUQUom-7R7uomx5V-8Pe86qXhhAzNC8/edit?usp=sharing . There's still a few TB of footage which is "unknown". As far as I know in the whole GT set of titles, there's only some GT 2001 Tokyo and GT5 Prologue remaining. [Edit:] As far as I know I've documented all my GT series footage except one GT5 video which is corrupted in the archive. Note: I haven't posted any B-Spec achievements into the spreadsheet.

TG process overview from my perspective:

2015 Jan: TGSAP is introduced at TG and scores start to be posted.

2015-present: I'm constantly refining the methods I use to get through my large queue of PBs. Current practice is: post four attempts per game+platform combination in turn*, oldest footage per game first if the videos are already submitted into the vzaar system or up to four separate video uploads simultaneously (preparing the vzaars). At the end of the alphanumeric list, post any score from my archive which someone may have recently surpassed. This is what Kernzy has experienced. I do this so that people can revisit games while they may still have the opportunity/desire. Once those are posted, go back to the beginning of the alphanumerical game posting process.

    * Dissidia Final Fantasy: Opera Omnia is so large, that at the end of each four, I typically interject one DFFOO submission.

Present: there's currently 118 different games in the cycle of the alphanumeric list. Many are either not yet fully documented (and may not be being submitted and may also be found to be unsuitable to be submitted) or not on the scoreboard (and definitely not being posted). Actually posting, the last cycle posted 36 different game+platform combinations (so for example, The Crew on PS4 and The Crew on Xbox 360 are distinct). So, roughly 180 submissions for that cycle or 540 Submission Points per cycle + anything other people fail to surpass from my archive in the mean time (which was 28 submissions "unearthed" by other gamers' actions - an additional 84 submission points in that cycle). Occasionally on days where I have amassed a "lot" (20+) submission points, I might also post a new track - entirely on whim.

So, the GT5 Prologue is more specifically is:

2010: play the game and record a bunch of footage.

2020 August: I create the first TG track for the game at https://www.twingalaxies.com/showthread.php/218538-PlayStation-3-Gran-Turismo-5-Prologue-Event-Race-Class-C-C-1-The-first-race-of-the-Sunday-Cup-series-for-beginner-drivers-Time

2020 August - September: the track is "funded" by two awesome dudes: Doron & Fred.

2020 September: I make my first submission to the game using my 2010 footage at https://www.twingalaxies.com/showthread.php/219637-PlayStation-3-Gran-Turismo-5-Prologue-Event-Race-Class-C-C-1-The-first-race-of-the-Sunday-Cup-series-for-beginner-drivers-Time-03-06-101-Andrew-Mee

2020 Sept-Oct: Kernzy gets wind of the tracks, dusts off his game which he admits he's had for ages but forgot about it. Starts posting his scores which then "unearth" my older scores in my processing as detailed above.

2020 Dec-2021: I'll get around to posting the rest of my GT5 Prologue scores as suggested by the method above & I'll be posting a bunch of 2nd place scores (or worse) behind Kernzy (& any others that produce better).

How do we compete against ten years of waiting uploads? :D

OK, try this: TGSAP started in 2015. At the point it was opened, I still had around 8 years of footage recorded to sift through and submit (that I couldn't for various reasons under the old system). TGSAP submission rate is slower than my recording rate. I now have more than a decade of footage to sift through and submit. In the current design system, it will only get to be a longer backlog.

do as you like, this is merely meant to bring up an option.

if you used all your submission points for submissions and not track creation it would go through a little faster. and in time, someone else might just make the tracks you wanted anyway thereby you get those tracks for free. track creaton is pretty much the only way someone else can spend points for us. people can make tracks for you, but they cant submit your old scores for you.

In general, when someone has beaten to the punch on a game, their perspective is usually different from mine leaving me to create tracks anyway. ;)

[Edit:] Add to that the usually "missing" PAL variations on many many games.

so what is the critical tipping point after a number of votes when a submission is passed?

It is only known internally to TG so we cannot "game" the algorithm.
