Trying to download WolfMAME .106, but my browsers keep telling me the files have viruses in them. What is going on?

    Use Internet Explorer.

I use Chrome and it blocks it. It's because of a part of the application that creates the INPs "looks like a virus" since it accesses your drive and creates/edits/overwrites files.

Is that so? I never knew.

No good, even IE blocked it. Isn't there a zipped version somewhere?

I’ll PM you. Gimme some time but if you want v.106 I’ll try to link it to you. No later than tomorrow. We will figure it out.

To be fair I haven’t tried to download v.106 in maybe three years so maybe it raises more flags than its modern counterparts.

Using Chrome, open Settings and scroll all the way down - click Advanced to display more options. Under "Privacy and security" turn off the "Protect you and your device from dangerous sites" switch...now you will be able to download the 0.106 install package from MARP. After download is complete, turn the switch back on, and you're all set.

On my Windows 10 based PC, the built in Windows Defender blocks any WolfMAME I try to get for watching MARP replays. I ended up making a Windows 7 Virtual Machine and I watch all my replays in there.

Don't have the problem for the latest Wolf MAME that I play on.

Wow - I'm also running Windows 10, and that has not been my experience at all...never had to do a thing with Windows to get WolfMAME or replays working, the Chrome browser setting was the only thing I had to modify temporarily to download the WolfMAME packages. A virtual machine just to watch replays? You are dedicated sir.

Hah no not just that :) My profession has me using all kinds of weird, wonderful and old software that clients use.

I did try Chrome after set "dangerous site warnings off" and it did not work with me.
I have downloaded Firefox and test that you can download wolfmame 106 successfully with
    Firefox.
From official site for older wolfmame versions: http://wolfmame.marpirc.net/

You can get wolfmame 106 in two ways:
    1. Use Firefox which will not block your site after set "Block dangerous content" off

    2. Download from fileplanet:
    https://www.fileplanet.com/203609/20....106--Emulator

Another thing you can do with wolfmame versions that are zipped.
Use an online web extractor which will show all the files unzip. Select all the files and then zip them.
Save the file from the online-unzip site and not the wolfmame site.

Other old mame versions which are difficult to find to play back previous recordings here at:

Have you been able to download Wolfmame 106 or are you stuck at downloading it first?

If you have download Wolfmame 106, can you install it running the .exe extractor?
if this here gives you a problem, download wolfmame from the fileplanet link
    I have provided above.

if running wolfmame after extractions: that is file: mamep106gui-vc.exe
Then you have a problem. I got no problem running that exe with McFee Antiviru
my Windows Defender service is set to manual.

If you have admin rights change the Microsoft Windows Defender to manaul - all three of them.

    Goto run: services.msc
