The hardest part of this site now, is the wait. Once you get a taste of a submission getting passed, you want more....

Glad you weren't around between 2015-2018. Some records would take weeks to a month to go through.

    Haha, echoing that!!!

I actually think they go through "too fast" anymore, but I suppose as long as it's based on watchful adjudication, it's fine.

Ah, even more recent than 2018, tho, Sid, something happened to the system/numbers a few months ago, "known" players(ahem, lol), started getting subs going thru in a day, which is still a bit crazy, IMO.

Ya, Les, that's the beauty, "chasing scores" is NOT the same as "playing video games", at least in my opinion.

Scour stuff, see what you are interested in/capable of, your system collection will increase dramatically, as will your general education of "what's out there".

I suggest you check some of the EMU scoreboards, C64, ZX Spectrum, 2600(Stella), etc-those are "free" to participate in, and cover a large spectrum(intended pun)of game-styles.

Don't be afraid to "go back", even if you weren't there in the first place-I'd say NES was the first system where my brain was really capable of "trying", but I've learned to appreciate systems now that came out when I was 5 years old, lol.

Just have fun, find your own way of doing things, adjudicating is a great way to educate yourself on games you might want to play, so keep building up those stats, you don't necessarily need to be a Superstar Gamer(again....ahem...)to climb up the rankings here and at least pretend to be one.

    (Last Ahem.)

    :D

I know what you mean. I have many records for Atari Jaguar, but that was over 20 years ago, so no way of proving them. Life gets in the way most of the time.

My biggest problem is the new found obsession. I used to think it would be cool to beat a game. Now I have to, and do it in guidelines. I have played Bubble Bobble every night for a month straight with the goal of beating it without continues. That level of obsession is new for me, lol. I like it... Chasing the leader is fun, challenging and very motivating. I figure if I play long enough and work at it someday I get to be the leader others are chasing.

Maybe I should just pick easier games lol

Therein lies the problem I have with this current setup. It relies too much on the "we can catch it later in a dispute" motif which, in my eyes at least, allows people not to put much effort into their votes. Just watch a video and click a button and get them points and the OH SO AMAZINGLY AWESOME CREDIBILITY (not). It also allows for traps easier too as they go through in a day or two and you have to hope someone with some time and/or knowledge on the game to come along and see something the other members don't because they probably don't play that game, genre, or system.

I get that nothing is perfect but this new reiterating for TGSAP is breeding something I have a bad feeling about. Whatever, nothing really changes in the long run.
