BBC Micro at 40: How it inspired a generation of coders

«During the 1980s the BBC ran the Computer Literacy Project exploring the world of computing.

A series of home computers known as BBC Micros were created and viewers were taught how to program them.

The project helped inspire a generation of coders.

BBC Click’s Alex Humphreys visits the National Museum of Computing to find out more.

LOL, my memory (with admittedly a childhood skew) of the BBC is that it was ludicrously expensive and other competing computers were much cheaper (of course, as the child, this was through the lens of my parents). Also I later learned the "standard" BBC Micro barely did anything - you had to fork out for add-ons even after the initial expensive outlay.
