    2019 Gamer of the Year - (Consoles/PC)

    Garrett Holland

There were many great choices, but the fact that Garrett pretty much aces every Atari 2600 title, in my opinion deserves this accolade.

2019 Contributor of the Year - ( A positive influence and growth to the community, via forum, blogs, adjudicating, providing dispute evidence, etc.)

    Jason Vasiloff

Contributions to MAME adjudication and for that great tutorial video for using MAME.

The peer choice awards are turning into a mockery much like this site has been lately. Pathetic.

I only have a few so far-

    Gamer of the Year-(Arcade/MAME):

    Matt Sales

Jason V is a solid yearly contender, a true Master of MAME, and he is extremely valuable to the MAME community.

I think Matt really hit his stride this year in the MAME compos and stuff, placing well against established veterans.

    Rookie of the Year:

    Garrett Holland

No-Brainer there, like Al Birman before him, he actually deserves much more.

You are all on my Bandwagon on that one, BTW, haha, "I got his Pocket", "Claimed Him!".

    :D

    Comeback Gamer:

    Hector "Fly" Rodriguez

Tho I kinda helped come up with this one for John Marks, I was thinking there wasn't a candidate for it this year, but definitely-

Hec maintained a presence at TG, but I really thought of him as a scorer "from the past", with an occasional go here and there.

He really did step back into the scoring ring, titles he loved and were proud of were under attack(...mostly by me, ha!), and had a good solid run on the scoreboard.

Still thinking on the others, possible controversial answers, possible I'll even "select" people that seem MIA atm, I dunno.

Roger Blair (Rogerpoco) will always be the most positive force here at TG. I believe that man deserves something along those lines. I guess Prolific? He really deserves more than that honestly.

Garrett is a strong choice for either rookie or contributor of the year. Not only does he adjudicate on darn near everything, he usually has something constructive to add beyond the usual "accepted" and when he has a question about a submission, like he did with a vindicators submission I had earlier in the year, he actually asks. When someone actually cares enough about the community to do their due diligence, they are being more of a positive influence on the community than they probably realize.

2019 Prolific Gamer - Rogerpoco (Without a doubt Roger has some of the most entertaining submissions to watch....pretty damn great player and very prolific across multiple platforms also.)

2019 Contributor of the Year - Garrett Holland (I know I already nominated him for Rookie of the Year but I really feel that I should nominate him for this one as well. Hard not to notice the overall positive contributions he's had here including the adjudicating, dispute knowledge, technical analysis on many subs and even going out of his way to make 'walkthrough' videos for some of us less than gifted players.)

2019 Performance of the Year - Nads for his Dragster EMU - Game 2, Difficulty B [Fastest Time] submission (There's been so many great submissions to watch since I started here, but the one that comes to mind is Peter's recent Dragster submission on game 2. He's also the first person to achieve 5.57 on Game 2 here which is pretty amazing in my opinion!)

Salim Farhat - Very impressive scores in M.A.M.E in a variety of games.

2019 Rookie of the Year -

Garrett Holland hands down. I knew since mid year that I was gonna vote for him. He is second place in ESI on the Atari 2600 and his CRED is crazy too. Excellent member, well deserved award.

    2019 Prolific Gamer -

Roger Poco, absolutely. Just a great gamer in a wide variety of platforms and games and very consistent.

2019 Contributor of the Year -

Franny has been by far the most helpful person to me this year. A big Thanks to her.

2019 Performance of the Year -

Im not sure about this one yet, I'll decide later.

Wow, feels more than a year ago Robert Macauley came back but seems to be this year. Robert Macauley gets my vote in this category also. :)

OK, I don't know him yet, but w/o thinking much about it, it had occurred to me that he was near me on the ESI charts, I hadn't really recognized the name being active before(which I suppose it's possible I could miss someone, but I'm here a lot, lol.), and that I was seeing submissions from him.

I'm gonna stick with Hec, from my personal experience with him, but Robert seems like a very good candidate, my apologies to him for missing him so far!

    Performance of the Year-

This one is tough-to me, it's a balance between "Rest of the World" achievement, and "Personal Gratification" achievement, which can be mutually exclusive, IMO.

I am open to consider other things, if someone brings them up, or if they occur to me, but I think I am gonna go with Pat on this one, the 5.57 on Dragster Game 2 from Nads is the biggest "YESS!!!" I remember having for someone this year.

    Am I biased in that?

Mebbe. Obviously, I am somewhat undeniably ingrained into the legacy of that game now. Pete is one of my dearest Friends here.

Was even a little afraid to go with it because I am passively going for the number myself, lol, could accidentally get it any random time, but that's a longshot, I'm still only piddling.

    :P

Sorry to do that to ya, Marc, again, I am open to "Oooh-I forgot that one!!!", but for now...

    Dragsta Life!!!(TM Marc)

RTM REPLY - I was hoping someone would chime in with when Robert made his comeback...I thought it was last year as well for some reason.

My vote for "comeback gamer" would echo the above...Robert Macauley, one of Australia's favourite sons :)

God... I really need to think about this. I need to get back to voting, too. While I sadly made a lot of bad decisions, I must at least do some adjudications a week. It is only fair.

This is a big one I must admit.

2019 Performance of the Year - (On any specific game submission already accepted)

There was a large number of excellent submissions this year. This covered across all platforms like console, PC, iOS, MAME and Arcade.

When I reviewed the the submissions that were accepted at Twin Galaxies in 2019, four were exceptional and at the top of my list. By chance, all of these were arcade submissions. I had great difficulty deciding the order, where my performance rating scores were 97, 98, 99.8 and 99.8 respectively.

4th place: Armando Gonzalez on Galaga Tournament settings with 9,525,700 points. This was a superb effort with just 5 ships to take the world record. Armando holds the marathon record from 2017 as well. Mike Thompson afterward scored 8,012,910 points, a great score for 2nd place.

3rd place: William Rosa on Tapper Marathon with 14,826,200 points. A tremendous effort and score by William to take the world record from Lauren Featherstone, who won the 2017 Performance of the Year.

1st place (tie): Kim Köbke was sensational in his Gyruss Marathon world record of 70,736,950 points. Lasting several days in performance, he has scored much higher than all of the 1980s gamers and all new comers to date. A truly awesome performance.

1st place (tie): John McCurdy with the incredible score of 1,259,000 points, on one of the most competed video games in the world, Donkey Kong. John hit the highest score on one of the most high profile games, the best in 38 years, winning over famous DK competitors 2 - Robbie Lakeman, 3 - Wes Copeland, 4 - Hank Chien, 5 -Mark Kiehl, 6 - Ross Benziger, 7 - Vincent Lemay, 8 - Tanner Fokkens, 9 - David McCrary, 10 - Jeff Willms, 11 -Dean Saglio and many others. I am not a big fan of Donkey Kong and I don't know John, however I do recognise his amazing 2019 performance.

That's my vote for this category. If it were possible, I would give the award to BOTH John McCurdy and Kim Köbke, as JOINT WINNERS, for the 2019 Performance of the Year.

I wasn't around for most of the year, but I'll go with the categories I can.

Rookie - I left, Garrett was kicking ass. I returned, and he was still kicking ass. Easy choice.

Gamer (consoles) - I have to go with Garrett again. He's second in ESI on the 2600. Come on!

Comeback - Robert Macauley. Easy choice.

Contributor - Pitcrew Poco! Come on. Come ONNN! I love this guy. He is the biggest positive influence on this site, hands down.

Prolific - John Brissie. He hasn't been around for a couple of weeks, and I've been wondering where the hell he is.. Everything seems right in the world when he's submitting scores..(lol)...When he's not, something seems "off". He IS TG! His submissions are always ridiculously easy to watch, too. There's no questioning anything. And they're crystal clear. The clock in front of the TV, for timing --He was the first to do that here (I know it's not some original thing, but i've seen people here copy it).

Performance - Hot off the presses (not accepted yet, but will be by the end of the year) , Maximus..Maxwell...Maximo...Maximillion.... @Max 's MAME Popeye performance! Just awesome. (you're a hop, skip 'n a jump from Fun Spot....up that arcade score)

    Marc-!

First-wall posts should bump, if there's "interest", it should come to the top, just occurred to me, would make something like this more "active".

    My question, tho-

Do/will you know when your episode of Pawn Stars will air?

Haha, I'm tired of looking thru my guide, checking for anything that seems like it might be "the show", but I'm worried I'm gonna miss it.

Could have PM'd ya, but I think all us enquiring minds want to know!!!

Thanks for monitoring... No, I dont know the air date, nor do the producers or casters. (believe me, I asked and am watching all the new ones on Monday night ever since.) My best guess, is sometime in the early spring.

You are officially my assigned Hollywood agent! ;) MAY THE PAWN BE WITH YOU!!!

Rookie of the Year: Rhett Cook. Joined TG in just June(ish?) and racked up 61 WRs. Must be genetic. ;-)

Prolific Gamer: Roger Blair. Has there ever been a more exciting, entertaining player to watch? I look forward to his submissions, and my interest is always kept throughout, even on multi-run subs, start to finish.

MAME Player of the Year: Jason Vasiloff ... dude is a beast.

Performance of the Year: Peter Nadalin's Dragster 5.57 on Game 2, as if 5.57 on #1 wasn't hard enough, on one of the most high profile titles ever released on console. (Thanks, Todd!)

Comeback Player of the Year: Well, difficult choice for me, because I just joined on Jan 30, 2019, so everyone who is currently playing has been active since Ive been here. Ill have to take the word of everyone else and vote for Robert Macauley.

gonna break a technicality and see if Chief Cohen will let it slide. I nominate garrett's river raid maxout as the performance of the year. although if it gets acepted in the next 2 days its not even a technicality for eligibility.
