Ready Player One

If you're looking for a good summer read infused with 80s nostalgia, consider dropping your literary quarter into the book "Ready Player One" by Ernest Cline. The story is set in the near future in a resource depleted planet, a strong division between those that have plenty and those that have little. The escape for the world residents is an online virtual galaxy called the "Oasis". In the Oasis you can travel, go to school, watch movies/tv, listen to music, and play video games using your avatar. The plot is to be the first to complete a quest throughout the Oasis by solve riddles and complete tasks. The winner inherits the wealth of the co-creator of the Oasis, one of the richest individuals living on the planet.

I recently read it and also thoroughly enjoyed it. Almost all of the minutia about the games was exactly accurate, and I appreciated that!

The only thing I could pick apart not being accurate (to my knowledge, at least) is the main character lasting 3 hours on 1 credit of Black Tiger...even with the point pressing every life to the max, I didn't think the game was that long?

2 thumbs up from me, though!
