Season 6 - Major League Baseball 2K 11

So I've been playing career mode in this game on-and-off for past 7 or 8 years. My player is the center fielder for the Cubs. I let the cpu handle all the general manager and coaching decisions. I won the National League MVP for the past four seasons. Just for fun, I'm going to post my progress on this game as I attempt to turn this team into World Series champs. So far, I haven't even made the post season.

I just wrapped up Spring Training. The Cubs finished tin last place in the Cactus league with an amazingly awful 9 -21. Season six could be a long, long grind if my team is going to play this bad.

As for my player Caleb 'The Big' Schlitter, a good but not great Spring Training. The stat line is BA .426, HR - 14, RBI -35, SB-11

Season Goals:

BA .500 BA - 110 HRs - 200 RBIs - 100 SB - Make the Playoffs

Schedule for April:

@Reds (3 games)

Brewers (3 games)

Astros (3 games)

@Brewers(3 games)

Nationals (3 games)

Diamondbacks(4 games)

    The baseball season started off slow. I lost the first three series, going 3 and 6 against the Braves and two division rivals (Reds and Brewers). But then Wrigley Field happened and Houston had a problem. My player, the 'Big' Schlitter, knocked the Astros back into the 70s.

    First Game - 4HRs and 6RBIs (Cubs Win)

    Second Game - 1HR and 2RBIs (Astros Win)

    Third Game - 2HR and 3RBIs (Cubs Win)

    Building on that momentum, the Cubs took 3 of 4 from the Mets, 2 of 3 from the Brewers, 2 of 3 from the Nationals, and 3 of 4 from the Diamond Backs. The team is plus 4 games on the positive side for the month (15-11), and only 2 games back from the NL Central Division leader Reds.

    Here is the stat line for my player.

    HR - 17; RBI - 43; R - 28; AVG - .481; OPS - 1.573; SB - 15

    May Schedule

    @Reds (3 Games)

    Marlins (3 Games)

    Pirates (3 Games)

    Rockies (2 Games)

    @Rangers (3 Games)

    Dodgers (3 Games)

    Cardinals (3 Games)

    @Pirates (3 Games)

    Thanks - The season is off to a good start. Maybe this is finally going to be the breakout year.

    Yeah - too bad about them Expos. They totally got screwed during the 1994 strike year. It took long time for baseball to recover from that strike but it was never the same for the Expos.

    On a related note, the reason I become a Cubs fan is my favorite player from that era is a former Expos that signed with the Cubs as a free agent. The Hawk had a heavy bat, quick feet, and an absolute cannon for an arm. His stare / scowl was intimidating and I'll never forget him chasing Eric Show into his dugout after Andre got plunked in the face.

    Fast forward to a few months ago, Andre Dawson was making a planned appearance during one the Charlotte Knights, the local AAA baseball team's home game. I had a chance to meet him and he signed my Cubs hat. Stand up guy of very few words, but I did get him to crack a smile. I'll post a picture of the signed hat.
