Is Your ESI Score Correct

The Gamer1185 had a recent post about his ESI not calculating after submissions were accepted. I noticed the same thing after a few of my older 'Test Drive Eve of Destruction' submission were accepted. I figured I was earning around 2-3 ESI on each submission based on the number of competitors I've beaten.

About a year ago, I developed a multipurpose competive 'skill' measurement program that calculates Expert Skill Index and other more progressive means to means to measure competitive rankings. I used this program to determine whether or not Twin Galaxies calculated ESI correctly for my approved Test Drive - Eve of Destruction submissions. The short answer is No.

I had to calculate the ESI for 82 individual tracks to determine whether or not what's posted on the Twin Galaxies Game leader board is correct. As a control, I also calculate the ESI earned by Troy Whelan. Here's the results of all the aggregated ESI for the 82 tracks.

PLAYER NAMEEXPERT SKILL INDEX
Shaun Michaud136.25
Troy Whelan26.45

Below is the aggregate ESI posted on the Galaxies Game leader board.

This glitch is not impacting all the submissions being processed. My guess it has something to do with the time period of submission that were accepted but not showing up on the scoreboard. I have more information that I can send you if it can help troubleshoot. @admin staff and @SincerelyFranny

Is this a problem stemming from the issue where ESI is being calculated on in-adjudication scores? Do you have scores where someone is beating you or you are beating someone else but it hasn't been approved yet?

Hey Man - It's actual the opposite of what you described. There's a few scores that were accepted but never was included in the game level ESI calculation. Basically TG undereported ESI for a period of time for some reason. It seems to have happened right after the issue with accepted scores not showing up on the leaderboard. I'm not sure if it impacted all submissions that were in the TGSAP queue at the time or a subset of that population.

Most of my Test Drive Eve of Destruction times were submitted several months ago. I currently have three submission left in the queue for this game. When I calculated the game level ESI, I did not include any ESI I will gain once the submission is accepted. There are three of my submission in the queue. If all three submission are accepted, it should add around 6.5 to my ESI total. I'm curious if this will happen or will the gap between what I calculated (136.25) and TG leaderboard (128.74).

Those 3 are approved now. Does that "fix" your ESI?

    Nope :(

Two of the three were approved. This one's still in the TGSAP queue.

The good news is that for the two submission that were approved, My ESI went up to 133.09 on this game, a 4.35 increase. However these newly approved submissions were not included in my recalculation of ESI, since they were not approved at the time. I'll add them into the recalculation and post the results.

Below is the recalculation of my ESI using my own calculator and what's posted on the Twin Galaxies leaderboard. The difference between the ESI posted on the Twin Galaxies leaderboard and what I calculated remains the same - 7.51. I think I have enough information to isolate which Test Drive Eve of Destruction tracks are not being included in this Twin Galaxies game leaderboard. Maybe this information will help troubleshoot the problem that also impacted other community members ESI calculation.
