MAME Appearance in King of Kong

Has anybody ever noticed this? It's very briefly on screen for about a second or two. I was watching the movie last night and noticed it.

How can you be sure it is not the PC version of Williams Arcade Classics?:

The PC version came out in 1995, predating USB devices. Is Steve playing on some technological marvel that allows arcade buttons to communicate with a game from the 90's?

It would require a lot of mapping, but not impossible. I was thinking the PC was from the 90s', which certainly does not have to be the case.

Pretty sure that is a modified X-Arcade control panel. Which does have the option for older keyboard inputs. Just something I noticed while watching the movie last night.

I also wonder what the big red button on the side of the control panel is used for. That doesn't come with the regular X-Arcade packages.

There is also Midway Arcade Treasures from 2004, but Williams was the first one I found a good video on

I would guess it is far more likely to be running MAME than anything else, especially when paired with the XArcade controllers.

What is the device Steve? Is that a VHS recorder / splicer? (kidding!)

Not just a X-Arcade but a heavily modified one.

Hey, thats the guy that was standing near billy when billy unveiled his dk and dk jr dual records that had evidence of mame. He also seems to be quite the mame expert to have a modified version, i wonder what the mod is for. small world.

I'm still trying to remember where Billy was in the back of a car, and said, narcissistically, "some people use MAMA and pass it off as arcade". Narcissists tell on themselves. You just need to know the language. I can't be bothered to go through them all. Maybe the pac man one? I saw it. I remember it. It's true.

I got my tin foil hat on when I go to this thread but it could be the 5G towers scrambling your memory. ;)

Pulled these directly from the DVD and bumped the brightness.

Notice that in the bottom picture the old X-Arcade tank stick is sitting next to the monitor.

Ah I thought there was a red button on the left hand side. But it is on the joystick itself. That is a cool mod, great for games like Nova2001. You have to be pretty handy to take apart those boards and drop in a new joystick. Not for the uninitiated.

Thanks for adjusting the brightness on the pics. When I installed a 4-way leaf on my X-Arcade I actually had to use a dremel tool just so the stick would fit.
