The trillion is missing ... LOL.

But 8,800 points is a start. A bit like a Junior Burger as a start. Then build up to the Big Mac.

What does the R stand for? The only thing it could stand for: Rhinestone!

    Nope.

    Retired.

Always love seeing you Guys take this on, it's gonna hit the next person "just right" one day, and somebody's gonna beat me, I truly hope I am still active enough to congratulate them!

Best of luck everyone, I promise, for me, it was just working on the pattern on the first screen for a few hours, courtesy of J.D. Lowe, (which I modified a bit later to squeeze a few more points out), being able to finally pull it off, and thinking there was no way I was gonna stop learning at that point, you really feel "slick" when you pull off pattern play in this game, "I know EXACTLY what I mean to do", it's just neat.

That's almost exactly how I got into playing Burgertime seriously. Played it a bit as a kid , liked it but sucked at it. Discovered MAME in 1997 and still sucked at it. 20K on a good day. J.D posted a walkthrough on the old TG site and after a lot of practice I got the first screen down. Followed his advice to check out an inp and next minute I'm up around the 1.8-2M range. At the time I was happy with that. Always promised myself if I ever got to meet J.D in person I'd thank him for teaching me to play Burgertime properly. Got to do that at Funspot in 2010.

What's standing between my current PB of 3.3M or thereabouts and 5M+ scores? A few things.

    1. I never learned or worked out complete patterns for any boards apart from the screen 1 layout. Can group on screen layouts 1,3,4 and 6 but things break down eventually. Can group on screen 2 but not on the second or third loop

    2. Never learned to group on screen 5

    3. Need to conserve a few more peppers when grouping

    4. Motivating myself to put in the work required to eliminate points 1,2 and 3 then dealing with the fact that from screen 21 everything I know is wrong

    Cheers

    Rob

Haha, @ivanstorm1973 - I had a particularly nice job, two decked out X-Arcades, and whatever MAME I was using before I joined TG would keep up with the high score on some games, one of my personal goal was to get the high score on games I knew/cared about.

But I never could beat that damned KEN!

It's just funny you mention that, because it always ticked me off, that KEN turkey, keeping me from the top of my own leaderboard!

    :)

More detail to Rob-I really only played games for my own amusement, wasn't terribly good at them, and was in an accidental "youtube tunnel" when I stumbled on J.D.'s stuff-it blew me away, I spent only a few minutes on it and was finally able to beat KEN, haha, and kinda reached out to him, I think on youtube first.

I had no idea TG, "current", "on the internet" was a real thing, tho I had certainly seen and enjoyed the docudramas(lol) KOK and Chasing Ghosts, just thought it was "old", "cool" news.

So I actually only really joined TG in the first place to go for the BT MAME W/R-some, I guess, minor health stuff, didn't have much else to do.

Didn't play/plan on playing any other games, only Burgertime, planned on that being my "legacy", but the TG trap pulled me in, haha!

I actually wasn't too good, I think my first submissions were in the 500k range, but I just knew I planned to stick with it, determined to get the top score-J.D. is off on other adventures in life, but he's definitely what I would consider a "good Friend", tho we have never met in person, only telephone calls and messages here.

He was behind me every step of the way, he just knew how bad I wanted it, I think me being completely "nobody" somehow really helped him support me, he was my biggest "Fan" along the way, which is something I have tried to carry along in all my High Score gaming, if you can do better than me, I want to tell you "Wow"!

1)-Ya, getting all the patterns down, which evolve as the game gets faster is a pain in the noogie-just takes time, and I swear, my "savestate" play was minimal, and if I can do it, you can do it...

2)-That's my smoke break, when I kill off extra lives. I HATE the 5 screens, and full disclosure-if someone can beat me, that's the screen they can do it on, there is a MUCH better way to go about it, I learned after my run, but I just didn't want to play anymore.

3)I sorta disagree. You DO need to use them efficiently, and properly, but you get plenty of peppers-the only reason to save them is if you are planning on attempting to beat the Killscreen. Rusty memory, guessing on specifics, but according to J.D., I grouped much faster than most people, using more peppers and less time to do so-my Killscreen was a shade over three hours, he said it's usually around four. I've seen the handful of others that reached the Killscreen do so with many, many peppers in reserve-I'm sure I had "some", but way less, as I had used them to make the game "faster". I am not a "math" Guy, but I knew an essentially perfect game up to the Killscreen could get the MAME score, I was satisfied with that, had no ambitions on taking on the Killscreen.

4)Man, I got up every morning and played for about 10 hours a day-at the end, it was only two or three games a day, but it was a GRIND to finally get there. J.D. actually told me there was a "wall" at level 21 or so(I think), that's the one time I used savestates for a bit, "just to see if I could", and it does take some pattern modification, there is no doubt, but with enough time, I know you can pull it off!!!

I love your passion and knowledge for the game, but like a Ferrari just sitting in the garage , it's time to drive.

Otherwise it just becomes a waste of talent and resources. Do what you love ...

One of the best games ever made. And who doesn't like making a burger ...
