Curious about physical size of AES games...
I see people talking about the physical size of the games but I have never personally seen one in front of me and I'm just wondering what size the games actually are. I am thinking about buying an AES system once I get my traditional birthday money in April and also like suggestions on the best games to get without having to sell antique furniture to pay for them. In the arcade, Samurai Showdown 2 was one of my favorite games and Metal Slug was pretty awesome for the time. I probably dropped enough quarters in those machines to buy a system nowadays. I recall the systems being close to $800 and games about $200 each at Electronics Boutique waaaaaay back when. Back then I thought "What if a $200 game sucks? Then you're out $200 with a sucky game". The Turbo-Grafx Express portable unit was high-dollar back then too, but I digress. I've been browsing eBay (ePay) as research on the Neo Geo. NAM '75 seems pretty cheap, as $20 cheap goes.
I figure this is the place to go and ask for advice due to the fact that I trust everyone's opinion on here. Well, 99% of the opinions. :P

They make BetaMax tapes look small lol. I found a nice pick with an xbox controller, neo-geo cart, and a DS game.

As far as the games, I really enjoyed Ninja Commando when I had mine. I like Showdown 1 which is what sold me on the system. I got it for good deal but have since sold it. I got it with 14 games for about $600. Sold 5 games out of it and kept the system for about a year or so, then I resold the system with the 9 games for about $400. This was 10 years ago though.

Re: Curious about physical size of AES games...
If you want the games for the purpose of playing instead of collecting, then it's a much better value to get the MVS system instead of the AES. The gameplay is identical so you wouldn't be losing anything. You can also get an AES with a Phantom converter to play the arcade cartridges on it but some are incompatible or will have scaling issues.
For example on pricing, you can get Metal Slug for the MVS for around $50. If you can even find it for the AES at all, expect to pay around $3,000 +
I just bought Neo Turfmasters for $60, on the AES it's $1,900 or so. If you're doing research on prices, here you go;

Re: Curious about physical size of AES games...
Thanks for the info and advice. I'm going to delay my acquisition of a NG for a little while. I get into a mode of "I want everything and I want it yesterday!" kind of mood sometimes. I am still working on my Atari 2600 and TurboDuo right now and I don't need too many things on my plate at once. The Neo Geo WILL happen, just not yesterday.
Once again, thanks for the info and advice.
