*** Lost Levels Bounty Claimed ***
I was a little worried that this bounty would die without any entries! As of 12/30/2004, I had received exactly ZERO submissions for this game. Luckily, on the final day, someone finally stepped up to the plate. That someone was Martin Bedard.
It's my great pleasure to congratulate Martin on his complete game of \"Super Mario All-Stars: The Lost Levels\". With this run, he claims the full $150.00 prize, and also sets an innaugural record of 46:59 for the fastest warp-free completion of the game using Luigi (there's also a separate record category for Mario, which has no times).
I've listed Martin's splits for each world below. Note that under the rules of this bounty, survival was all that mattered, so Martin decided to take it slow and safe during some levels. I shudder to think what he could have done if he was actually playing for speed! :?
World 1 - 02:22
World 2 - 05:02
World 3 - 08:08
World 4 - 11:24 (1st death on World 4-4)
World 5 - 14:44
World 6 - 18:50 (2nd death on World 6-3)
World 7 - 22:51 (3rd death on World 7-4)
World 8 - 28:14 (4th death on World 8-4. Yet another castle death! Martin now has to be perfect in order to finish within the 5-life limit for this bounty...)
World 9 - 31:25
World A - 34:31
World B - 38:11
World C - 42:13
World D - 46:59
The most enjoyable part of watching this run was worlds 9 through 'D', where Martin was perfect despite the pressure of playing on the LAST of his 5 lifes. I can only imagine what must have been going through Martin's mind as he went through several close calls during these levels. Believe me, the action had me on the edge of my seat. DEFINITELY worth the price of admission! Nice going! :)
