Why does the scoreboard show 50 points more than the high score?

And a bit of trivia about this game, the better you are playing the harder the AI plays back. It was programmed that way.

My guess is that the spinner didn't register the extra 50 pts as that awards 50 point increments until after the game is over. I'll go with the 271,550 score since that is the score that shows up to attached to my initials.
