Were these the Poggs of video game (meaning a fad that came and went pretty quick)?
Does anybody actually play these things. I never have played one, and was wondering what the goal is.

We bought my daughter one a long time ago and she cared for it and raised it a couple of times before she got bored and gave it away to a friend of hers. :?
Hello Mike:
Awhile back, a gamer actually asked me if I could track a record for how long he kept his pocket-monster (aka Tamagotchi) going.
Of course we can't track this, but you would be surprised to learn that some people get TOO into caring for these cyber/giga-pets.
A friend of mine told me that at his job (police station), one of his fellow civilian programmers RAN back to his office from where they were eating out at lunch because he suddenly remembered that he forgot to feed his "pet" before leaving.
I won't say it.
Robert
There was a version of this type of video game that allowed players to raise their pets, link up, and fight the pets of other people. Seems like this would be the only way to have a contest on such titles. It would be the wimpiest fighting game tournament ever! :?
ya a while back my sister had one of those and she was obsessed with it. i dont really care for it. i think i recall a guiness world record for how long someone kept one of those alive. i think i say it in a random guiness book.
i never really got into those, they were too cofusing  for me
but the videogame for gbc is fun, still never really cared about my pets
i found it funny when they died
Sorry to drag a really old thread up
PC emulator of a Tamagotchi
Runs a bit faster than it should

There was a way to cheat on the original hand held tamagotchi also.
I think you just set the time everytime u wanted forward, and somehow you could get it to 99 days everytime. Cant remember how, but it was possible and worked.
I'm having fun with the Tamagotchi emulator, thanks unclechicken. :D
I downloaded that ages ago and found it on an old hard drive about 2 or 3 years back.
I think it would be totally acceptable to set a world's record on shortest time it takes to KILL a tamagotchi pet.
