To quote myself from Nicola's submission:
I decided to set a rule for the Pterodactyl. I hit him when he drops a set of eggs. Thus avoiding a general leeching. I just hit him when he gives some stuff... or when he takes too long between them and I hit him anyway to avoid dragging out the fight. It's points pressing at best, but I am doing my damn best to avoid the points leeching.

As I said before there are many places in the game to gain a lot of points. A great player can score a few million points using these areas.
