Who's going to the Grassroots Gaming Expo?
I know that this may be new to some people and may even be too late for a lot of people to be able to make it/afford it/etc. but I wanted to know who plans on going to the Grassroots Gaming Expo.
There's a lot of info in this article: http://www.examiner.com/arcade-game-...set-for-august
Overall, since the Big Bang got postponed and there was people that still wanted to make the trip to Ottumwa, Myself and Josh Bolinger decided to put on a gaming event on our own. The Grassroots Gaming Expo will take place August 5-7th at The Bridge View Center in Ottumwa, Iowa. We already have over 14 arcade games plus a few pinball games that are to be available to play at the event, plus all the games that Star Worlds Arcade plans on bringing. We will have several consoles available to play as well as tournaments for people to enter. There are plans of a BYOC (bring your own computer/console) area and approximately 20 Bands to be playing. We are working on getting films to have playing at the event and tons of vendors. There is even talks of Tabletop and card games to be going on, including Magic: The Gathering tournaments as well as other games. We're planning on holding an auction to raise money for the International Video Game Hall Of Fame And Museum.
We'll be posting a ton of information on our website in the next week or so: www.GrassrootsGamingExpo.com and you can get your tickets now at http://grassrootsgamingexpo.ticketleap. ... amingexpo/
We have a special "Gamer Package" that comes with a Goodie bag that includes an exclusive event t-shirt as well as a limited edition, numbered event poster as well as several other items. There is a limited number of this package so if you want it, you better buy it now before they sell out.
The Gamer Package is $40 (gets you a customized all access badge and goodie bag. Cutoff date is July 8th, 2011 at 5pm) and the Basic Package is $20 (only gets you a customized all access badge. Cut off date- July 22nd, 2011 at 5pm) Tickets at the door will be $25 and will get you a non-customizable all access badge.
All the proceeds from tickets will be going to the International Video Game Hall Of Fame and Museum.
If there is any questions or comments, please feel free to write us at [email protected]
I'll keep checking back here as well. :D

Re: Who's going to the Grassroots Gaming Expo?
Maybe the people who were supposed to be going to the Big Bang 2011, if their tickets they bought are still valid for it.
Its the same event isnt it, at the same venue, at the same time, run by the same people?
Re: Who's going to the Grassroots Gaming Expo?
It's a little different than the big bang. Granted we were a part of putting together the Big Bang, this event though we're raising some funds for the IVGHOF with it, is predominately being focused on video games AND other types of games.
The people that did buy big bang tickets were already refunded for them and aside from that, this event is being funded by Josh Bolinger and myself. Though I wouldn't be apposed to working out a deal for people that had bought tickets.
We are planning on trying to get a decent amount of arcade games for the expo and have some tournaments on it.
Re: Who's going to the Grassroots Gaming Expo?
Okay, so we have a TON of stuff going on... We have 6 movies lined up right now and we have more on the way to be played at the event, at least 16 tournaments plus a Gaming Desert Contest, Well over 20 arcade and pinball games (Not including all the games that Star Worlds Arcade is bringing), a ton of consoles all set up for free play, Tabletop games, card games, 17 bands (with the possibility of a couple more too), Door prizes (some of which will be some video game movies like Dr. Kong, Tilt and more) and so much more! You can go to http://www.GrassrootsGamingExpo.com for more details and believe me, there is still a lot of stuff we have yet to announce! Hope to see you there!

Re: Who's going to the Grassroots Gaming Expo?
Just a reminder that the Grassroots Gaming Expo is this weekend! Feel free to check out all the info at www.GrassrootsGamingExpo.com and if you can, be sure to stop out for all the fun. If you can't make it, we're gonna try to have some live streams going, but we won't know if we will until Thursday when we can actually test the facilities wireless. (half the time it's been crap and doesn't wanna work well)
Otherwise we'll be posting photos throughout the event on facebook and eventually having photos and video on the site.
We just had a story ran in the Ottumwa Courier. Feel free to check it out here: http://ottumwacourier.com/local/x50799914/Game-back-on
