Re: How long are you allowed to "sit" on a record?
As far as I'm aware, you can take as long as you want to submit and send in a score, but once submitted, you have 90 days before it could be considered "abandoned". After that, you may have to repeat the submission process on the web site, but as for just "sitting" on a tape, there's no length of time you must submit it unless it's a tournament or contest of some sort with a time limit.
Re: How long are you allowed to "sit" on a record?
With 2 notable exceptions.
1. The rules change and your entry becomes invalid.
2. In the case of MAME scores, a newer version of MAME is adopted.

I'm sure prior notice should be given if any of the above should happen. I just sit on my MAME scores to try and better them 1st them submit about 30 in one go.
Re: How long are you allowed to "sit" on a record?
Haven't ref's nicely asked on many occasions for people not to stockpile mame inps?
Re: How long are you allowed to "sit" on a record?
I don't think he means 30 INPs, I think he means 30 improvements in 1 inp...At least I'd hope so. (BTW I do that myself.)
Re: How long are you allowed to "sit" on a record?
I've seen people wait to upload batches of scores at once, and while there's technically nothing against it, it's actually a bit more beneficial to the refs not to do so. Here's why (at least in my opinion):
Let's say the queue is empty (not quite there right now, but for the sake of discussion). If it's my day off, I'll periodically check the MAME queue to see if anything has popped up, and if so, I'll go ahead and check it out. Otherwise, I'll come back to it later. If I see a couple scores pop up that were done within the past couple of days, no worries, I'll get them taken care of. If I see 20 scores all of a sudden pop up that were done within the past week, it's nothing major, but that's a bit more work for the me (or whatever ref is checking the queue at the moment). It may be hard to see that point, but I can't think of any other way to put it.
So while there's nothing technically against submitting a huge batch of MAME scores in one go, it's not something I really look forward to, if that makes sense.

Makes perfect sense.
Say your sitting at your desk at work, (office job) and someone walks in once an hour and says here, do this 1 piece of work. You would be good with that, can plan your day out, get the work done as it comes in. But say late in the day someone comes in with 25 pieces of work and plonks them down on the desk. Well, I am sure we can all imagine the thoughts that would enter anyone's head in this situation!
Re: How long are you allowed to "sit" on a record?
It's not JUSTthat though.
here's the scenario, there's 500 INPS in the queue. Russell and five other people work their *** off to clear that queue. THE INSTANT they sound he all clear there's 1000 banked INPS BACK in the queue.
THAT **** people off, very quickly and very badly. I remember some one telling me once one gamer that WOULD ALWAYS DELIBERATELY DO THAT. He made a point of making them wait when they did it after emailing them nicely several times about it.
that's why I'd refuse to touch the Mame queue unless I was explicitly ordered to do so.
