Mistitled Arcade Game - Metal Slug

Ive been going through and giving images to the arcade games that don't yet have them and have discovered a track called 'Battle Slug'
I'm nearly positive this is supposed to be 'Metal Slug'.

All the dates on the track are 4/20/97, and the original Metal Slug was released in 1996.

Furthermore, these dates match up with four of the submission dates on the track 'Metal Slug - Super Vehicle-001'

I also fruitlessly tried searching for any arcade games called 'Battle Slug'.
It doesn't exist.

I would propose taking the scores from 'Battle Slug' and putting them onto 'Metal Slug - Super Vehicle-001' track and then deleting the 'Battle Slug' track.

Granted, based on the "Slug" it may be as you state. However, there oodles of games beginning with "Battle" that are just as easy a fit. Based on the size of those scores, that's really poor play at Metal Slug, so I'd favour this being a "Battle" game.

The "online" persona of Twin Galaxies came online in 1997 so the dates are also not likely to be accurate but instead a date of importing the data

I imagined this as a live event somewhere that featured this game, with at least 7 scores recorded (3 from 'Battle Slug, 4 from 'Metal Slug)

I assumed these scores from 'Battle Slug' were the 3 lowest scores of that competition. 'Battle Slug' could even sound like 'Metal Slug' if being yelled across a noisy room or on a bad phone connection. And those scores are entirely plausible, especially for a live event with a mix of people of various skill levels.

It looks like you are probably right though, looking closer at the 3 gamers listed under the 'Battle Slug' track, they all have multiple records, and the entries for all of their records is the same. 4/20/97

Regardless though, this is a track for a video game that does not exist.

btw, I just saw your appearance on 'Feelings & Stuff' ;p you are NOTHING like how I imagined you hahaha, and I had no idea you had been around TG for such a long time man. Respect. Looks like you've put in a lot of work.

Just discovered the "1997 Video Game & Pinball Masters Tournament" was held April 19-20 1997, so the dates could actually be accurate - the tournament was held across 12 cities. I have no idea of the organisation.

Thanks. :D Yeah, 2002 as a member, 2004 I joined the then-staff as a referee, left in 2010 and generally stuck around. :)

I have many, many Friends here, and most are really like me, we just do the best we can, try to figure out things as we go.

Then I have "Guru Friends", Rage, Barthax, a couple others, that I count among my Top Dogs, if I have a rule type question I typically just go straight to them, because I KNOW "they know".

Like you said, a lot of work, and also it takes a lot of passion for gaming in general to have ones self prepared to be able to provide definitive answers-Barthax is one of the greatest resources this site has, truly.
