Lemmy Lemmy Lemmy was a Rock-Roll Gamer

Did you know that Lemmy Kilmister, now deceased frontman of Motorhead, was a Gamer?

Lemmy LOVED video games! His colleagues have many a story of Lemmy playing arcade games for hours upon hours while being on tour with him.
Lemmy lived above his favorite bar, the Rainbow Bar and Grill, which housed Lemmy's favorite game, an arcade game which Lemmy had, and still has, the high score on. Just imagine if Lemmy had found out about Twin Galaxies back then!

When Lemmy was diagnosed with Cancer shortly before his death he wasn't able to come to the saloon as much so the bar owner sent the game up to Lemmy's apartment. After he passed the game returned to the bar, where it remains today available to be played by the public.

Lemmy didn't limit himself to video arcade games either, he is shown in the pictures below playing pinball and the 2010 documentary 'Lemmy' on his life opens with him in his apartment
playing X-Box! Later on in that same documentary at around the 11:45 mark Scott Ian of Anthrax tells a personal story about Lemmy playing an arcade game. That documentary is linked below the Lemmy Pinball picture.

Mr. Kilmister also famously wrote several songs for WWE, including one called 'The Game', which when the lyrics are taken into account looks like Lemmy probably had video games in mind when he wrote that song.
There is no doubt Lemmy Kilmister was a true gamer, even in his final hours gaming was still a passion of his, and he died doing what he loved.

Thanks for posting. TG needs more articles like this.

Video games and Pinball...the ultimate equalizer.

When I was at Arcade Expo 1.0, Bill Gates showed up. He is a pinball fan. It was very cool to think of people from that realm (uber billionaires) enjoying the sames things I do. He was just another person enjoying the tables.

I know someone who knew him at least a little bit-actually a member here, but mebbe not my business to disclose.

Sent me an old cell phone pic once of Lemmy, my jaw dropped.

Pretty sure my Buddy mentioned that Lemmy was a gamer, too.

My brother used to hang out with him at the Ranbow. I'd seen him there but we weren't buds and I don't bug celebrities most of the time. He always sat in the same spot and played the same gambling game.

Not like I often have the opportunity, but I guess my opinion on that-

If I have to think really, really hard to remember a Sportscasters name that I see on ESPN everyday, it's prolly not polite to come up and say something, even if I DO appreciate what they do.

    But, say, Mick Foley?

Oh, I'm bugging the **** out of that dude, peppering him with questions, etc, etc, lol, I couldn't help myself.

(Yes, that's past tense, and happened...)

    :P

Ya, exaggerating, but if it's someone really on my radar that I appreciate, I'd prolly try to sneak a shy "Wow!" at them, at least.

    Lemmy.
Named by other rock stars and crew, because of his most common sentence.
    Lemmy a fiver?
Maybe it was for arcade games... :)
    Great stuff.

    Your brother was lucky.
The Rainbow theatre, which, hopefully was purpose built for the band Rainbow, is now an African church.
