ZX Spectrum

Well, managed to sneak my way into another top spot on a system, super-proud, with a bit of hesitation.

I've never seen a real ZX Spectrum.

:(

Fortunately, based on an unreal blessing from a friend, I have a project in the active works that I am keeping relatively quiet for now that will allow me access to playing PAL oriented equipment in the very near future-things have to come at their own pace, but I promise, getting a real ZX is "on my list".

Also-

There's not been a lot of current activity/competition on the system, so I really had a "personal playground". On the other hand, I had to figure out most of the gameplay stuff completely on my own, lol-not a lot of ZX manuals out there...

This is far from a challenge(Lol, leave me alone, I'll just keep the top spot forever, fine with me!), but I DO encourage other EMU players to at least give the system a look.

Almost all the scores on the system are for EMU-as Pete knowledgably noted, UK based system on a primarily North American scoreboard, just makes sense I guess.

The Spectaculator EMU seems to cooperate with most any control scheme well-I only used my X-Arcade on it a little, but I remember only being able to use the right side, for some reason. I recommend an adaptor to use an Atari 2600 stick.

Playing C64 EMU now, I know the ZX and C64 are "comparable" systems, being new to both I'd say in my opinion the gameplay is usually similar, C64 does have slightly better graphics, but at times the ZX just seems more fun.

Thanks, for sure, to @Barthax , for all the help me get the system up and going-it's too accessible and fun to be forgotten, I hope we've given it a little push for the future!

Thanks Everyone!!!

I just finally got around to ordering my XM1541 cable for my commodore 64. So I plan on playing some serious C64 very very soon (Cable is coming from over seas, so.. waiting game)

I really cant stand playing emulators to be honest, especially with computers. I plan on getting a real Spectrum sometimes this year (just picked up a second part time gig, so money!!! And they are pretty small and not to expensive) So.. plan on seeing some friendly competition soon on The ZX!

Side Note: Been feeding a stray cat that seems have made the back yard a home. I named him Zed Ex.

Im looking forward to your subs when you get it set up. I know the electrical system has a different voltage in Europe, so Ive always been curious to see if that would effect how you'd have to set up something like a spectrum or an acorn over here. Adapters? Converters? Like I said, super curious, and Im glad you are tackling it.

I like the idea of EMU, because I think it makes the possibility of someone being able to play these games in 200 years a reality, and I do like the ease of access, TBH, but ya, I do love my hardware!

Only problem on the ZX, like I mentioned, the hardware tracks are few and far between, most of the action actually is on EMU.

Yeah, lol-I have WAAAY too many hopes/projects-pretty sure I am picking up a package deal on several Commodore computers this weekend, super excited!

No lie-it's turned out to be a little tougher than I thought, but I'll get it figured out eventually-the power supply issue isn't as tough as dealing with the PAL RF signal, but the right solution will turn up soon!

Several Computers? Instantly Jealous!!! Not sure if you will be able to grab monitors as well, but the 1702 is an amazon monitor. Designed for the c64, it also has standard RCA which can work with a multitude of things.

It also has Luma / Chroma (which is just basically svideo) I have a modded sega that has Svideo out, and when i use the 1702 its SOOO crisp. Highly recommend nabbing one of those if you can find them cheap (WAY expensive on ebay)

Great to see some ZX action from Roger & @D.B. Cooper :D Helping out Roger forced me to fire up the emulator a few times & I've since recorded a few more attempts at stuff. I'm not a big fan of joystick-killer games, so most of Roger's xxxx Games scores are safe. ;)
