Congratulations!!!

Some folks are likely aware, others not, but I just wanted to give a shout to my fellow TG competitors over in the current Atariage High Score Club.

I don't think I actually know all the TG members that participate there, some people use different names, I know Lauren Tyler, last years Silver Medal winner did well as always, Nads had to give a huge handicap, due to Fathering duties(Yay, Man!!!)and still did well.

Voodoo came in and embarrassed us all with a one-off Pac-Man score, lol, reminded me of Mario Andretti showing up at a NASCAR race in the late 60's, early 70's, haha!!!

But in the main event, Garrett Holland and Gregdeg pretty much outclassed the field, first and second going into the "finals", respectively, Pat Larocque finished a solid 7th place(the last few games weren't good to him, luck of the draw), and I squeaked in to round out the top eight, the "Gold Medal Bracket". One year experience between the four of us(Greg won Overall last year)(WOW!).

Over 70 competitors, Worldwide, and all four of us made the Top-Tier Finals!!!

Wow!

Interestingly, lol, the way it is seeded-

I'll be facing off against Garrett in the first elimination round, and Pat will be facing Greg in the first elimination round.

Seriously?

That's just...too cool for words(uhhh...except for the nasty beating me and Pat are likely looking at...).

:P

Anyway, it's been a really fun event, learned a LOT from others, kinda feel like we may have spread some of the "TG Atari philosophy" over there(Rage is my favorite person to compete with, TBH, just is, but the Atari crew...Good People. Just...Good People.), people helping each other out and stuff, was a lot of fun, Thanks to "Vocelli" for Managing the tournament!!!

Well, that's about all, mostly just "Congratulations, Guys", and TBH, I'm most certainly bragging!!!

Not about me in particular(lol, the numbers were so close, there had to be a recount, I guess. Actually, a math error), but about "Us".

We kicked a lot of butt, it was awesome!!!

I received the digest email this morning which announced that @Garrett Holland won Season 9 of the Atari 2600 High Score Club. I kept an eye on it periodically and it shaped up to be a two-horse race with @GregDeg which proved to be thrilling as the season progressed.

The bracket challenge should be fun. Best of luck! And hey, there have been a few #8 over #1 seed upsets so you never know!

Being honest, I was initially listed as the first place in the Silver bracket, and was disappointed, in a way.

For one-more pressure, lol, there is a solid chance that if I had "tried", I could, mebbe "should" be able to win the Silver bracket, but...

Well, you know how random my "try" actually is, lol!

There is really no chance of an upset, but I feel MUCH less pressure, and much more "fun", going for...

    (I've used this joke already...)

    Douglas knocks out Tyson!!!

Thank you, all! In all candor, @GregDeg deserves as much credit, if not more. In week #1, I received 50 bonus points for no other reason than being a new participant. My margin of victory was less than that, so if not for the "gimme" in week one, he would have been the champ by 10 points, because he performed better throughout the contest.

I'll tell you what I told Pat ... anyone can beat anyone else in anything once, and in this contest, once is all it takes. I'm rooting for ya, Roger! Not gonna make it too easy for ya, though XD I most certainly will not be disappointed if you take me out ;-)

I did the math (as you expected LOL). Considering some of the factors, the probability of this happening from a statistical perspective was actually extraordinarily high.

Based on a few assumptions which I shall not disclose, lest it be considered to be in poor taste, the chances that Greg and I both would play either you *OR* Patrick in the first round was approximately 30%, or about 1 in 3. The chances that Greg and I both would play *BOTH* you *AND* Pat in the first round was approximately 7.5% or about 1 in 14. Considering there were over 70 participants, both of those odds are extraordinarily high.

The same odds if we switched out you and Pat and instead considered two other players that missed at least one week would drop to approximately 0.02% (1 in 5,000) and 0.005% (1 in 20,000) respectively. Other factors (such as having a skill level lower than you and Pat) would even drop these two odds like a hot rock (i.e. 1 in 33,333 and 1 in 133,332 respectively)

Btw, these odds were based on before the season even starting, and assumed that you and Pat would not miss any weeks.

The odds increase to 40% and 10% respectively if it were based a couple of weeks before the season concluded.
