Final 2004 \"Bounty\" Claims !!

  1. Final 2004 \"Bounty\" Claims !!

    01-01-2005, 02:03 PM
    Hello fellow gamers:

I'm still processing the final data, but a few more successful claims were received for the year 2004 \"bounties\". I will have the details posted in several hours time.

Meanwhile, the year 2005 \"bounty\" announcement will be delayed by just a few short days as I need to verify settings and rules on some of the newest platform choices. Rest assured that the 2005 selections will again have something for everyone, and will be even bigger than ever, along with a few genuine surprises.

So, keep your eyes peeled for the 2005 announcement by no later than Friday January 7th, hopefully earlier. Meanwhile, by tomorrow morning at the latest (January 2nd), the final results of the 2004 \"bounty\" claims will be posted for everyone to see.

Thank you one and all to everyone who responded to and participated on the year 2004 \"bounties\", and I look forward to hearing from more of you once the 2005 selections are made public.

Well I for one would like to thank you for your work with the 2004 bounties. Great Work! :D
  3. No Problem !!

    Hi 19Duke84:

Much appreciated. Glad that it made a positive impact.

Will announce the final successful claims later this week...I had a few, actually. Will also announce the grand total of the cash disbursed for the year.

Now, the 2005 bounties will appear hopefully by the end of the week or Saturday...I have some Xbox/PS2/GCN issues to resolve, but the other systems and platforms I am done with.

Here's a teaser...thus far, there are more than eighty (80) \"Bounty\" challenges for year 2005 !! How's that for something to keep you busy for the year ?

Again, will announce in a few short days after the final revisions are made and agreed upon.

Still no word on the final claims? I want to know if Robert got my tape. >_>
  5. Final Claims Tonight !!

    Hi LucidFaia:

Yes, tape received...it is actually the sole remaining tape for me to watch. The new VCR is hooked up (thanks again, Troy !!) and I just had to wait until after the YTD Dec/04 corporate accounting close before I could resume tape-verifications. Your will be the first since it is \"bounty\" oriented.

Meanwhile, for all the rest, including some last-minute submissions that have already been verified, I will update the thread over the next 2-3 hours.

  6. Here the are...the Final Claims !!

    01-17-2005, 12:52 AM
    Hello fellow gamers:

I am in the process of finalizing the year 2004 \"Bounties\" and will start by logging the last of the claims to have come in. All but one has been verified, the latter having to wait until a new VCR was obtained...and one was thanks to Troy Whelan.

Okay, here are the final claims in no particular order. I'll start with...

    Cruisin' the USA (N64)

This one had three (3) claims come in within a week or so of each other !! I was very surprised, and thrilled to watch all three as the gamers displayed different approaches to the challenge...completing the entire game in a single run, coming in 1st place in every race at maximum difficulty with traffic on, and no \"boosts\". Any vehicle was allowed.

    Here are the results...

    1st Place - Tom Votava with 18:32.96
    2nd Place - Rodrigo Lopes with 20:00.16
    3rd Place - David Vicens with 20:08.77

This was quite a nerve-wracking challenge. At this difficulty setting, the cars are very, very fast, especially the blue corvette, and in some races, you cannot afford to slip too far behind, and definitely not during critical moments.

With some races' outcomes determined by the difficult final turn (most noteably \"Washington, DC\"), or a tough section (like \"Chicago\"), a good run can end instantly. And considering that \"Washington, DC\" is the final race and the key moment is the final turn, this one is about as bad as the final jump in the NES classic \"Super Mario Brothers\" !!

Although all players submitted excellent scores, including one by David Vicens' brother Luis who opted not to participate in the \"bounty\" but submitted a score of 19:44.34 which is awesome, one player stood out above the rest. Tom Votava is the winner of the 2004 \"bounty\" for this challenge.

    Zombies Ate My Neighbors (SNES)

This challenge had previously been accomplished by Tom Votava, however the rules stated that in the event of a tie, a possibility in this event, the \"Bounty\" would be split. Thus, Adam Sweeney, who saved ten (10) victims in the final stage, will split the prize with Tom Votava once I view the performance later this week. This is the only 2004 \"Bounty\" performance not yet verified.

Of personal note to Adam, this is the first time I've seen an original TDK \"Super Avilyn\" tape in years !! I always thought they had the coolest boxes compared to all the others. Ah, those were the days when I first started taping TV shows. But, I digress...onward to the next claims.

    Super Smash TV (SNES)

This was perhaps the simplest \"bounty\" of all...what was the most points you could make in the very fisrt stage without dying, meaning you had to finish the stage on your 1st life. Point-pressing is a must, as is dealing with the \"tanks\". Plus, favourable gift items doesn't hurt, and especially a good supply of speed boosts to keep the wave going.

Tom managed to pull off a score of 237,220 points, and...rules are rules...sole submitter that he is, he wins the \"bounty\" for this event !!

Road Runner's Death Valley Rally (SNES)

This was one of the more difficult \"bounties\" from 2004. In a single game, you must complete the game AND get all the flags. And let me tell you...some of these flags are in the most unbelievable places.

The final stages which take place in space are horrific, involving multiple teleporters and the risk of running out of energy due to missed jumps. Quite honestly, this is an extremely tough game to execute the maneuvers on. The coup-de-grace is facing a gigantic Mecha-Coyote while martians try to distract you from your goal.

I always liked this game...a chance to control a favourite classic cartoon character...which explains why I like the Sega DC title \"Wacky Races\" so very much.

Anyway, Tom pulled this off with a score of 934,590 points. A truly stellar performance indeed.

    Chicken Shift (arcade/MAME)

One of the tougher \"bounty\" challenges was to score 150K or more on this ultra-hard title. One gamer, Nathan White, managed to pull this off via the MAME emulator, as finding the arcade classic is next to impossible.

Reaching an unprecedented wave 17, Nathan pulled off a score of 159,820 points, an incredible feat.

Okay, fellow gamers. Unless I am mistaken, that is it as far as the final \"Bounty\" announcement goes. I will next update the payout list and can report on the final tally of monies paid, and to-be-paid, and then, finally, the 2004 \"Bounty\" challenges will officially be over...save for the data entry of the results into the TG score database !!
