550... and a bit rusty? I'd hate to see you play this after some practice.

    Amazing score.

This is among the first 2 or 3 arcades games I ever played. That track you were driving is a hell of a lot harder than it looks.

    Great job.

I have a feeling a local in Australia has one of these machines, I hope it ends up in the local arcade in the near future, would love to set a score on an original machine.

Congratulations Alan Breaking Setting a New world Record & Welcome to Twin Galaxy Excellent Expert Play you could have Gotten 600 plus

Note to Twin Galaxy Members on Arcade Game - Sprint 2 [Set 1]

A Player Gets 100 Seconds to Start the Game

On Solo the 1 Player Uses the White Car at the Start a Player Gets 100 Seconds to Complete as Many Laps as Possible

A Players Gets 10 Points for Every Completed Lap

A Player Can Get 30 Seconds for Extended Play for Every 250 Points or 25 Laps Completed

    250 pts / 10 pts = 25 Laps

For Every 25 Laps Completed it Gives the Player 30 Seconds Extended Game Play

    Then 550 pts / 10 pts = 55 Laps Completed by Alan

Alan got 1 -> 30 Second Extended Game Plays for Game

A Player Gets 100 Seconds to Start the Game Plus

1.Question if we Go By 250 pts 25 Laps Completed for Extended Game Play

Alan should have gotten 2 30 Second Extended Game Plays but 1 was Negated. Why?

Time Frame or the Game will Not Add the 2 30 Second Extended Game Plays
which would have Given Alan 2 30 Seconds of Game Play or 1 Minute Extra

Sprint 2 is a 2 player overhead-view arcade racer released in 1976 by Kee Games,[1] a wholly owned subsidiary of Atari. It was the first auto racing arcade game to use a CPU to control part of the game.[2]

    Technology[edit]

Sprint 2 evolved from Gran Trak 10 and Gran Trak 20, but included a microprocessor (the 6502), a first for racing games. This allowed Sprint 2 to include two computer-controlled cars, better graphics, and more tracks. Unlike Gran Trak, this machine did not have brake pedals, but the players could still make their cars "fishtail" by turning their steering wheels abruptly.

    Legacy[edit]

Sprint 2 was the first in a long series of games, some of which bore its name into the 1980s.

    • Sprint 4 and Sprint 8, a 4 player and 8 player version respectively, were released in 1977. Both were full color raster versions of the game.
    • Sprint 1 was released in 1978. The "1" and "2" designations reflect the number of players, rather than indicating it was a prequel.
    • Super Sprint, a 3 player version with updated graphics, was released by Atari Games in 1986.
    • Championship Sprint, a 2 player version of Super Sprint, was released by Atari Games in 1986.
    • Badlands, a 2 player post-apocalyptic setting update of Championship Sprint, was released in 1989.

Sprint 2 was also believed to be the first Atari product to feature the well-known 'Atari arcade font'.[3]
In 2016 a reverse engineered version to Javascript became available.[4]

Very impressive, 1 crash, very little slowing down, great passing strategies. Not many points left in the game. Looks like maybe around 20 or so points left on the table. Maybe we can hook up some time and see if we can do a doubles and push the 1k barrier.

What a THRILL to be associated with what I consider the greatest classic arcade machine made! Ever since I played Sprint 2 in 1976/77 it has left an impression on me. Reminds me of an old friend. Looks like I need to play Sprint 2 more often!

A great big THANK YOU to everyone who has liked, thanked and posted. Tranquility Base Arcade is always open to top Sprint 2 players ;-) . Who knew Sprint 2 Doubles was even a 'thing'!? I'm ready to try the infamous Black Car! ~ Alan
