Based on what I saw it is likely that a flawless run can go beyond the 40K mark. Between finicky victims and obstacles that are non-stop in your way, a good run with minimal problems may allow one more fuel boost.
This score is even better than we estimated was possible 15+ years ago !!

It appears to be a Semi KS despite it is the Highest Ever score on this known....
After 30k the full tank bonus the game seems to be nearly uncontrollable
So 40k might be possible but by a human I do not know
I actually thought 34k was a max
