I seem to be having difficulty. Trying to look up old posts and info on Atari 2600 Decathlon by Activision but ...

    - All I'm finding is a General Discussion forum. Are there others? If not, what happened? Akin to old Xbox forums, which used to be really good like 10 years ago before they went the way of the dodo.
-The archive stuff I'm finding ... well ... I'm not finding. Even when I go to some of the "archive" posts. All gone?
-SteveGermershausen & TomDuncan have like all the records in this game. Insane scores. But how do those two guys have all the highs for the individual events but Greg Degeneffe is the complete Decathlon record holder???
-I tried tonight with a joystick and didn't come close to any of their scores. Are people using a trackball, which I find isn't true to the game (or at least manual). Would be like me putting it on an emulator and using buttons instead of the stick. Maybe should be a separate track. IDK.

Just curious about the forums and this actually pretty good game.

Im not sure about the Forums, but in answer to your question about how Greg is champion of Decathlon is due to the ESI earned, ESI (Expert Skill Index ) is calculated on each track, Greg has earned more than Steve due having more entries on each track. When you add that up he has the most.
There are a number of posts that detail how ESI is calculated.
Hope this explains a bit of how TG works

Thanks for the response. I understand ESI. What seemed odd to me is how the TOTAL in-game score is NOT by one of the two guys that have like every high score (for the individual events) in the game. I would think they'd be in the top 5 for the total score in the game.

And then on the flipside, Degeneffe has few score in the events' top 5.

You are clearly pretty awesome at the game based on you leading the ESI for it. But your total isn't in the top 5 for a single-game. Do you just focus on one event a time and not the whole game in one play? I guess the latter would be taxing so to focus on an individual event would be the way to go if you were trying to get individual records for those.

Anyway, any tips? My top scores are garbage:

No I’m not awesome at it’s just I’ve subbed on both the console and EMULATED track, that’s where I’ve get the ESI from.

In terms of gameplay I use the trackball, it still takes a fair bit of effort to reach Steve’s times but I found it easy to use than the joystick.
