    greg do we know if this way ever maxes? i was surprised to learn the arcade maxes after 4 rounds. seems like an odd choice, you'd expect it to max after 1 round, or go forever, but if the arcade takes 4 rounds it begs the question if the home version has some preset number of rounds

    side note. i always felt breakout was really bizarre for the same reason. why hard code it to 2 rounds? again i'd expect either 1 or infinite.

    I can understand the reason why the arcade version had a limited number of rounds… more quarters. The Atari version (Game 1) probably continues until you miss six times. I would assume the score rolls after 9999.

    It’s hard to say why they limited the number of rounds on Breakout. They did improve on it with Super Breakout.
