    Hi all,
I'm new to TG and was looking to get some detail on the use/style of TV when recording or attempting records.

Looking at the guidelines (both for recording and the global rules)I couldn't see anything about using a CRT, but many of the videos I've seen appear to be these older style displays.

Is there a specific reason these are used? Reason I ask is because I have a ~10 year old TV that supports coax & RCA input for the consoles I've got stored away; but don't want to start attempting if this is the incorrect TV style.

Many thanks in advance for the feedback.

In my experience, I have observed that any and all forms of display monitors and TVs are acceptable, regardless of age.

    Hi Disko, welcome to TG!

You can use any display you like. The reason I use CRT for most games is because of the quicker response. LCD, Plasma, etc tend to have some lag and for some game where precision is key, CrT is much better. I could never get the same scores on Super Mario Kart using a flat TV.
